I really like the fender mounted mirrors. Had Talbot repros on my original Beck and Ray Dots on the Green Coupe. I have a really nice pair of original Talbot Berlin mirrors in really nice condition (chrome) which would look great on the Merlot Beck, but I want to eventually go to wide 5 wheels (not chrome) & drum skins like I had on the green coupe. The Ray Dots look great with that set up because of the aluminum finish. Opinions?

Of possible interest, Tom, I got my GT mirrors from Russ at FiberSteel. They were about a buck and-a-half each, but they came with all the hardware and a non-side-specific template I needed to modify for my use. I don't have anything bad to say about them. They don't vibrate, the sight-picture out the driver's side is brilliant, and the passenger's side has a convex add-on that makes it useful.

I have a Ray Dot I got as a gift which will be going on a stalk in the center of the car when my roof project is complete.

There are a few different, equally good-looking options out there from other marquees, though. Don't rule them out:

Or, my personal favorite for your application (which you already had):

Here's the rear-view on my jalopy that Jim made reference to:

Doc - its only a mild 1915 so only so much foot pressure can do ;-)

Rich- Not required but thanks for the offer.

Cory & Lane - I like the Ray Dots too, but they will look best after I get to the wheels and other mods. I think I need to lose much of the chrome.

Thanks for the references Cory & always loved the engraving - did you use a liquid etching kit for that?

Kelly my man you did miss sumthin. Rare opportunity moved my time table forward. Steal of a deal and had it shipped to Carey for a once over before I brought it home to Ohio. My ride is decked out in a very similar merlot color to yours - sans big motor and color matched top. In fact that is how I described it when the deal came together "Kelly Frazer Merlot"

See you all in Carlisle. I'm all registered!

Hope to have a few tweaks completed by then.

Thanks for the input. I'm probably going to install my vintage Talbot Berlin mirrors on her for now. They look great but are chrome. I'll post a few pics of them before I decide.
Oh-tay!! As to the original question, I like the old-fashioned OEM-style mirrors, whatever they are called. I go for the "original" look, as you know. I now have one each from Stoddard, as I found the cheap chinese copies wanting. the Stoddard versions give a real right hand side (convex) reflector, and the quality is top-drawer. the orignial JPS copies were beginning to rust-spot. I locate the mirrors on the fenders so that they can be seen through the windshield. Works great for me.

and of course I am delighted to see this evidence of at least some level of prosperity having come your way. Times were dicey there for a while, I know. Really, delighted to have you back in fold, so to say.
