Hello all, looking for ideas, appears my dash vents were missing upon purchase and I need some idea on what went here, what my options are to replace ( i don’t want to cover ). Actually not even sure what company made my unit but hoping someone has them i can mirror? Aluminum would look cool but I’m sure there are $$

Go big or go home.

@356_2cool2slow : Replicas with VW (heaterbox) heat typically have bare aluminum vents, less than $20 apiece at Pelican Parts etc. Not all that attractive; https://flic.kr/p/2m2r5Gu looks like real ones might have been painted dash color but still just riveted.

I'm guessing you don't have all the heat ducting installed, even if your engine has heater boxes. That's a big job.

Were I you, I would consider disassembling a couple of $11 12volt defrosters from ebay. Mount the grills neatly on top of the dash to cover your slots, mount the fans below (w/heat elements stood off decently from the fiberglass), and have working defrosters that no-heat speedsters will envy on foggy evenings.

That hole is a bit larger than what either Vintage or Beck use, so you may have to be creative.  What you get for a defroster grill will depend on the hole size or you'll have to re-shape the hole with fiberglass.

I found this on Ebay:  https://www.ebay.com/itm/283069497237

And for the hose connection under the dash some guys have used a Shop Vac "Gulper Tool" glued up under the dash:

Thanks!! Excellent idea. Ordering that as i don’t have the plumbing.  I have a 1952 Chevy 3100, used pvc ,and painted flat black for the replacement defroster… looks stock!

I wonder if those are bottom screw mount as they would be exposed. Was going to attempt search but not sure what year 911 to look ..

I think you can purchase those from Greg. As far as functionality they don't do anything anyway. The volume of air directed there even with the floor vents closed will not defrost your windscreen.

Not necessarily.

Just no. Cheap 12v electric heaters are useless.

If you want meaningful heat/defrost use heater boxes or an auxiliary gas heater(like a Webasto or Eberspacher/Espar).

Carey Hines at Beck has some really nice CNC/laser-cut aluminum defroster vent grilles. I don't think they are that expensive. I have two on my Spyder dash, I don't have a picture. I also looked on the Beck website but couldn't locate them.
