Dale,

It does look like my Pegasus graphics are just a little bigger than
yours. But, to answer your measurement question, I actually put a
ruler on mine to see how the "nine-inches" applies. Turns out the
longest measurement would be from front hoof to back hoof and on mine
that's seven-inches.
Why this pair was called nine-inches baffles me. More correctly they
should be seven-inches.
Can I get two-inches of my money back?
Is this maybe the strangest discussion we've had on here in a while?

It has to do with the racing heritage back in the 50's. A lot of the porshces racing had Mobile for a sponsor and they would put this Mobile sticker on the car to represent the sponsor. Kind of like today, but now you have the UPS car and the TIDE car. So it really is the beginning of sponsorships being displayed on the cars.
A Mobil station near us recently closed and was "salvaged" by the oil
company prior to demolition. However, on the front of the building
they left a large (5-feet in diameter) Mobil Pegasus on a white circle
3-D sign which lit up!
My neighbor (fellow caraholic) and I were trying to work up the stones
to put on all black outfits and go up there and "liberate" that
sign some night...but, the wrecking crew got to it first.
It would have looked very cool in my garage...all lit up...(sigh).
There was a guy in the town where Chris now lives, who used to have a Red Mobile Pegasus in his garage, left over from when his father had a gas station in town back in the '50's.

It stood about 5 feet tall, and it was four inches thick, as it had the pegasus on both sides. It was made to be mounted on top of the roof of a gas station. It was painted red, with a white outline all around, on which there was a red neon light tube which lit at night.

I wonder what became of it.....the guy divorced and as far as I know the sign remained in the barn after his ex got the house and such, but the guy died a few years back so now I don't know what's happened to it. Maybe we can put Chris on the case!!

John,
Thanks for that information! I was a little worried about how unusually large your Pegasus seemed to be. I Know you are NOT the braging type, so I was actually worried that it was really somewhat bigger than the reported 9". I rechecked mine this afternoon and it is still only 5 1/2". Drat. I asked my wife and she really likes that size, she said if it was much bigger it would be out of proportion to the rest of the body.

Got it Theron, 3 sets left

I can make some static cling ones eventually but as of now I'm out of static cling material that accepts solvent base ink from our digital full color print machines (digital outdoor screen), so it may take some time for those (since I have to order a big expensive roll)
Steve, that is a cool thing. Please pass to Jim that his commitment to "duty, honor, country" is appreciated and respected by this Viet-Vet and the proud father of a another patriot. And that I wish (and pray) for him a safe journey and a quick return to "The Land Of The Big PX".

Also, ask him what he plans to put these Pegasus' on? I have thought about it and could see them on a variety of Helicopters, a Bradley, a HumVee, an M-1, any Self-Propelled Arty, even on a Quonset door. Military cool!

Greetings from the giant sandbox known as Iraq. It might suck but at least I can still access the website.
Many thanks to Steve for hooking me up with a set of the Mobil Pegasus stickers. Actually I am going to use them on a flared body that will be completed when I get back. Although, if I did have a set over here, they would sure look great stuck to the side of our Humvee. If everything goes well, I should be sitting in Carlisle behind the wheel of a flared speedster.
Also, I want to express my appreciation for all the veterans out there who have enabled us to express our opinions and live the way that we have grown accustomed to. After seeing this place, you get a whole new appreciation of the American lifestyle.
Thanks again to Steve, Jim and everyone else who has expressed their well-wishes.
Jim
