It seems that if I read any posts about ANY engine manufactureres (other than maybe CB Performance) I get hit with about a hundred million postings about how this or that company is the worst. At first I though 'great' I can weed out the good from the bad. But . . . it seems that everyone out there hates almost everyone if you read web posts.

So does anyone out there have any experience with Mofoco Industries? Quality? Customer Service?

Flame on,
Alan

Never heard of Mofoco (but I like the name) so I can't say, but Alan, I think you have an answer, CB. I did a ton of reading when I was looking for an engine and trust me, I hear where you're coming from. In all honesty I didn't really want to have my engine built in Calif, I was hoping to find someone more local. My engine shipped when gas prices were crazy. The shipping alone was a good chunk of change. In the end I went with CB because of their reputation, that I couldn't find anything negative about them anywhere, and as a result of my conversation with Pat Downs. Call him and talk to him. I spent alot of money (at least to me) on my engine and trans and I feel very comfortable with the choice I made. This is really one of those things where you get what you pay for.
When it comes to this stuff unless you reallllly know your $hit it's better to have the people who know these engines inside and out and do this for a living do your build. Otherwise, it'll still cost you in the long run one way or another.
I knew a guy that bought a "new" 1776 motor from Mofocco, it pucked with 1000 miles on it. I disassembled the motor and found three new pistons and one old one as well as other mixed new and old internals.
This is a no brainer: Never send anything than a good faith deposit until they are ready to ship, if this is not agreeable to them, move on to another builder.
Even more so, whenever possible, buy from a LOCAL vendor so that you can keeps tabs on related build progress and completion date and local warranty service if needed.
Screw the long distance thing, it almost never works out as hoped for,(other than well known builders i.e. Raby etc.) should you have to ship a motor 3000 miles it gets pricey and a general pita. ~Alan
