Yup, she was the one under the car with small hands so I didn't have to take the wheels off. Yoor right about the line Gordon, a little like hanging pictures, "A little more to the right dear".

So, obviously Dianne was NOT the one under the car, so she must have been the one to make those strips of tape sit super-straight, right?

I set the screws into the molding and set them in the holes on the body, marked the location the location of the screw on the molding and then removed it and applied the JB weld. The JB weld just keeps the screw from turning as you install the washer and nut from the backside.
 
The length of the screw also allowed you to hold it as you first started the nut, keeping it from turning so I didn't have to wait for a complete cure of the JB during installation. The screws stuck out a bit and I let them be in the doors but used a dremel to cut the excess and smooth them off in the wheel wells.
 
My tire to fender clearance is tight.
 
 

good idea using the button head screws. Is there a need to glue them?  Could you just let them slide until bolted down?
