Hey Barry.
I saw your old Spyder on the road a few weeks ago and thought it was Anand's car. I was honking and waving until I got closer and realized it wasn't Anand. The guy just gave me a polite smile and wave, but had that expression of "do I know you or do you just like the car" on his face.
I know he's a doc in town here and sooner of later I will meet him.
I will be in Monterey since my silver and black super widebody goes on the Mecum's auction block on the 14th.
Anyone else going to Monterey Car Week events around Pebble Beach? This year I'll be showing my 1964 Citroen Chapron bodied Cabriolet at two events…...on the 15th at the Pacific Grove Rally……. and on the 16th at Concourso Italiano. I met Troy a few years back at the Pacific Grove event.
I really want to go, but I can't see throwing down 250.00 for a ticket. I may just do it because it's a once in a life time must do.
My wife and kids are out of town that weekend and it's only 50 miles from my house. I really have no excuse not to go.
Unfortunately I can't make it on the 14th, as that's my wife's Birthday. I'll be rooting for you, Troy!
Who's going? Which days?
Ted
Unfortunately for you Ted, the 14th is the day you can see Pebble Beach Concours cars for free……….the ones that drive on the tour stop in Carmel, late morning & they block off the street for them. I'd guess 1/3 of the cars that aren't trailer queens are there with the owners. Lots of folks are there as well…...to see them pull up. The owners get lunch in the park for a few hours & the cars are on display. All the money from car week events goes to charity, entrance fees and attendance fees.

BAH!? Just my luck, really.
I may have to 'go into the office early' and 'work late' on Thursday.

Troy, the lucky guy's name is Paul (can't remember his last name). He's a local Fresno urologist who happens to use the same hospital as that of Anand Rajani. They know each other. Both are fine people. Here is the final photo of the car, taken last September just before Paul took the car.
He also owns an Audi R8. I think you might want to consider introducing yourself. I think Paul would find your knowledge of these cars invaluable. I told Paul about CB Performance and to contact them if he had any problems. CB installed the on-board computer that runs the suby engine.
IIRC, Anand has a single acrylic windscreen, while mine is the glass/aluminum framed style. Anand has had Carey build a coupe---highly modified---but I haven't heard anything lately as to whether or not the car has been completed.

Troy--
I can't believe I've never introduced you two -- we'll all have to go for a ride soon! That's really my fault -- it never occurred to me!
Paul is the definition of a car guy. He's got multiple M3s, an R8, amongst others...I actually helped him detail his R8 in my garage not too long ago (seen here) -- he's got a V10 5.2L coupe that hauls.
Barry, my "A" coupe is 6 months out -- but Carey is hard at work on it.
I just bought a 1965 356c in slate grey -- same owner since 1967. He even had a little journal in which he recorded the mileage and cost of each tank of gas. All original -- paint and interior. That will have the whet my appetite until the "A" is done!

If anybody should be going to Monterey, it should be you! Any chance? I've done the Pacific Grove Concours show there twice and had a GREAT time. All the car in the show do a drive to Carmel along the coast and 17 mile drive at the end of the show. That's a long way and there are throngs of people lined up waving and taking pictures for much of way. It's VERY cool!!! Here's the video. Sorry about the sound, still don't know what caused the that.
It's 1 hour long, but at least watch the start from 3:00 to 7:00 and the end from 54:00 to 57:00.
Troy,
I would love to go! I wish I could. Unfortunately I promised my good friend that I would have dinner with him and his girlfriend who he's quite serious about. If I miss it, I'l be in big trouble!
Have fun down there and let me know how it goes!
Anand
Anand.
The Pebble Beach show is Sunday the 17th and it's just one of the events that are scheduled during the week long event. The Pacific Grove show, in my video, is Friday the 15th. If my car doesn't sell on Mecum, the day before, I will probably enter it in the Pacific Grove show. I will be there from the 13th until at least the 15th and possibly longer.
Here is the link to the calendar of events: http://www.pebblebeachconcours...f3f7f243e1e6d2ad.pdf
Here is the link to the Pacific Grove Concours on Friday August 15th.
Hi Troy,
I'm picking up my SAS Subi coupe from Outfront Motorsports in SoCal on Aug. 11, driving up the coast to Santa Cruz on Aug. 12. If both our schedules allow, I'd like to meet up with you during that week in PG. Please let me know.
Hi Jim.
That would be great. I will be there late in the day on the 12th and will be at Mecum all day on the 13th while the car is on display. My car goes on the auction block around 11:30 on Thursday the 14th. If it doesn't sell, I'll probably enter it in the Pacific Grove Concours on Friday the 15th. Not sure if we will stay for Saturday and Sunday.
You can call me or text me when you know what your plans are. 559-908-3258
Troy..looks like your car goes on the block right when the Pebble Beach Tour cars hit Carmel to be parked on the street for a few hours. I'll be there & will send good vibes your way for a successful auction result. I'm in the Pacific Grove Rally the next day. Then Concourso Italiano the day after that.
I'm heading out in the morning……….good luck to Troy @ Mecum.
And if anyone is at the Pacific Grove Rally or Concourso Italiano,
this week come see my Chapron bodied Citroen Cabriolet & say hello!
Wish I could join you guys, Art! We plan on being on Moonstone Beach mid-week. Might drive up Hwy 1 to Carmel and cruise around. Have fun, looking forward to seeing pics of your Chapron being admired by the throngs of auto aficionados!

Aluminum wheel guys can fix most any damage.......if not 400 to Kirk and wait a month for the Mexico City boys to craft a new one
Can you hit it with some sandpaper (400, then 600) and then some mothers to knock the edges off?
Dear god, what is that abomination next to you!? Is that a 68 Mustamino?
Do your best to clean out the scratch/curb mark and reassess your situation.
Sorry to hear that happened...
Ted
Complete with Flames and a vinyl top and tonneau cover. And a corvair ramp side on the other side!?
Man, some guys have all the luck.
That thing's fugly from here! It must have been horrific parked beside it...
Rampsides are really cool. I'd love one for trips to the lumber yard, etc.
T
Thought that was a RanchStang next to you, Troy!
No. It's an Elstang.
