Isn't the weight of the battery better located in the front?
Looks like the 90hp engine. I, too, thought it odd to see the battery back there. When I replaced mine I went with an Odyssey PC680M, which only weight 14 pounds and takes very little space. Highly recommended.
Thats a stock VW crate 1600 that's been converted to dual carbs and alternator. Great strong running little motor. I bought 30-40 of them from VW Mexico before they discontinued and haven't had an issue with a single one... I dug for a dyno sheet but could not find one. From memory they were ~75hp
Thanks for the info @Lane Anderson and @chines1... Price is a little steep for a 1600cc right? I'm not well versed in the craftsmanship of a BECK speedster so that may be where the money is going... But I've seen brand new builds go for a smidge more with a 1915cc 2110cc. Dont get me wrong... That ride still looks amazing and anyone would be lucky to own it.
I'd check with Carey (chines1) about getting a new one built to your specs for that kind of money.
Base price new is roughly $40K with that motor, and there are a couple grand in options on that car. Current backlog is in the neighborhood of 60 cars, so we're quoting 18 months at present.
