After spending more weekends than I planned in painting my own home (something I always wanted to do, but now I'll never do again!), I finally had some time to show some love to the Spyder.

I had ordered some custom pedal covers from Brian Sullivan at Sullivan Racing Products https://www.srpracing.com/ and I'm thrilled at how they came out.  Brian was great to work with, very communicative, and swift in fabrication and shipping.  I will admit, however, that after spending a while on my belly up in the footwell of the Spyder, I've got sore back muscles and some bruises on my elbows from the bulkhead.

The next project was installing correct brake and turn signal lights.  Of course, as usual with these cars, what was supposed to be a quick switch out turned into something more complicated, as the new light assemblies were too big for the existing holes in the body.  So, out came the jigsaw.

The last to-do was removing the meatballs I installed on the doors and replacing them with larger versions.   I had one of the smaller balls left over from the original order, so I mounted it on the hood.  Unfortunately, in removing the driver's side decal, some of the paint came off with it -- about a 2X3 inch patch -- surprised the heck out of me.  So now, the decal has a visible "crater" in the middle.  I'll deal with that at a later date.  My wife says she doesn't get why it's on an angle.  All I could tell her was that was the way they frequently did it back when the 550 was raced in the 50s.  It's all about the details, right?

Nicely done. I take it that's not what you had hanging out the back before? You mentioned the holes were smaller. Were the lights similar but just smaller or were they completely different?

Here's what I had before.  While the overall outside diameter of the lenses were similar, these older ones had a smaller diameter back chassis than the new.

I may have left them in place, but after someone on this forum described them as "trailer lights" when describing someone else's car, I couldn't un-see them on mine!

For our rally meatballs, we use a temporary printed vinyl that has thousands of microscopic holes (unnoticeable).  They can be easily applied; just pop them on a clean surface and use a microfiber towel to push out the air bubbles (or credit card).  They pull right off after 1 week or 1 year.

I always park the car outside in the sun for a bit before trying to remove.

Kevin -- thanks for the tips, Sir.  If I do these again, I'll look at trying that type.
