The guy says the glass stays on. You know if enough of us get together we might be able to save some $$ with a quantity buy.
Wadda ya think?

Troy,
I'd be interested in knowing how many the bloke would need to sell to get the price down to around $100 (comparable with the other type sold from Mid America Motorworks; which look like jail cell bars and where the lens needs to be removed).
Maybe also how many more to reduce it further, to say $75.
It all depends on whether the manufacturing process is primarily manual, or has some automated steps. If it is 100% manual then, presuambly, he would not be willing to move that much on price.
We could probably save costs by having him ship all of the ordered grills to a single US address, and have them distributed from there.
Jim.

Jim,
These grill are from the USA, California. You may have confused them with the auction I bought from in New Zealand.
This seller sold a set yesterday for $142 and one the day before for $122. If I was him no way would I drop it to $100 or $75 if I had a steady market at $120 and up.
My New Zealand set fits over the glass too.
Pays to shop around a bit though. I found a post about Bonnet Straps at anywhere from $29 to $250 from England. I just got a set from a Mini Cooper supplier, Mini Mania for something like $19.95.

I believe there are a few owners who have purchased these stone guards. I would like to know if they can be installed without putting pressure on the fiberglass or the paint below the light besil. It appears that the clasps that fix around the chrome light besil at 10 o'clock and at 2 o'clock would might the fibergalss and the paint.
last sentence Gin & Tonic induced. Should read . . might damage the fiberglass.
I've got these on my Speedster. They can be made to fit over the glass. The only modification I had to make was to replace the lower mounting bolt with a longer one. I put a washer on the s/s bolt and fed the bolt from the inside of the fender, placed a nut on it to keep it from sliding back thru, mounted the stoneguard and fastened it with an acorn nut. When installing the stoneguard I put masking tape on the painted areas around the headlight to keep it from being scratced. I have not yet tried to take them off but feel confident there will be no paint or fiberglass damage if care & masking tape are used.
They are a nice addition on any Speedster.

I heard back from the guy and he does not seem interested in making more. Says the glass stays on and he has three left
RE: Supply and demand
I bought a pair of these at the Ventura Car show they have not yet gone on my car. The vendor I bought them from said his supplier was not going to supply anymore because the manufacturing (in China) was becoming too expensive. He said he only had three left.
I reasoned that these things could be fabricated for about $2.00 and dribbled out on eBay at $130.00 per, not a bad profit. If you mass produced them and flooded the market they'd be "commodity priced" Like noodle skimmers.
The stone guards remind me of something I have seen in kitchen supply stores, so I did some "research". Check out the photo of the noodle skimmer below. They sell for less than ten bucks in any restaurant supply store.

Do they fit?
They look like the "foundation" of a cheapo push up bra :)
