More Local Area Group Get Togethers

As Gordon Nichols recently commented after Carlisle that we need more local activities.
Are there any SOC members in the Southern Ohio/ Northern Kentucky area interested in a met of some sort this summer or fall ?
Any comments or suggestions could start here. I have been giving it thought and have a few ideas. Jump in anytime here!

Charles: Look into our Run on the Smokies scheduled for the September. Lane Anderson is heading up the particulars. I'm sure you'll enjoy it and you'll also meet some of finest there, and that even includes Aaron.

Supposedly the tri-state area 356 club, Drei Staaten Gruppe, in Cincinnati is open to replicas participating in their club events. Info came from a former Beck owner in your area.

I just attended a weekend tech session with the folks from the Southern New England division of TYP356 Northeast. GREAT bunch of folks, and the tech session highlighted the differences between a "Pre-A" 356 and a 356A (as well as a TYP540). Really cool tech session!!

I had been a member until I moved to Beaufort and back then I was one of three replica drivers in the group. Now there are over a dozen and another guy is looking at a used VS this week. There are still a couple of people in the group who look askance at a replica, but I wouldn't hang out with them regardless so we're all cool (I can also easily leave all of them in the dust).

Still....Vinnie's right. They're nice folks, but they're not like us!

I think a huge percentage of them are like us, but peer group pressures just won't let them express it publicly.

I am just surprised that no comments in my area as the club roster indicates the following:
5 members in the Columbus area
5 members in the greater Cincinnati area
3 in the Louisville area
1 in the Lexington area
Myself in the east Ky area
I expected to get at least several people interested in a get together.
Go figure!

Charles, you might need to email the members close to you, not everyone looks at this forum on a regular basis, I get side-tracked from time to time.
