Hope Tom sees this and will offer more info on his customized Camaro Orange Speedster as seen at Carlisle.  I really like it as a modernized version of the '57 Speedster.  More pictures and details please -- or I'm liable to buy this on Samba and graft it to my old CMC!

As I understand the sequence on Tom's Speedster, I believe Tom is the third owner.  It started out as a customized IM (by Henry's elves) and then the first two owners added a few more touches.  It has an 1835 (the extent of my engine knowledge) and a late 911-style rear air spoiler raised by speed or his key fob(!!).  I was looking right at them, but can't remember if it has rear disks.  It DOES have rear IRS with shortened stub axles (one side now with red locktite on the castle nut!)  It has custom headlights that look either New Beetle or recent 911 (with the little focusing lenses)

I'm sure that someone has photos of the interior - It's pretty trick, too.  I looked through everything I took and have nothing for you.  It is a multi-lap, "Wow!" car, for sure.

The bumpers aren't molded in, Rusty. They're just very tightly fit to the nose and fenders. One of the reasons I like the car: so much technical skill went into building it.

Overall it reminds me of why I was a prog-rock and fusion jazz fan as a lad: even if the tune didn't really move my soul, I could always appreciate a virtuoso technician at work on something he loved.

My car is built on an Intermeccanica wide body and re worked from there.  It features a Gene Berg 1835 motor with dual 44 Webers and a 911 cooling fan that is paint matched to the body.  It has 4 wheel disc brakes, full adjustable suspension, and Porsche cup wheels.  The body is painted orange with several coats of gold pearl. A 996 cover was used for the deck lid that works with a  remote to raise and lower it. New Beetle headlights have been used and fog lights built into the front bumper.  The 911 taillights were used in most of these wide bodies.  The windshield and top have been chopped about 2" in the front and 3" in the rear. The speedster also has power windows and the interior is covered in two tone full leather while all the controls are hidden under the dash.  Everything if fitted perfect and the car drives like a million bucks.

I know it's not everyones taste but I have always liked the lines on it. I've owned over 30 speedsters and dont think I've ever seen one I didn't like.  Do I think it's cool?  Hell ya. I love every kind of cars and the the ones that are completely different are even cooler!!      I own an 1988 RX 7 with a LS6,6 speed and gut wrenchin fast, A 2011 C30 Volvo r line, A 2000 Miata M edition with 30k miles, A 1999 911 thats tricked out,a 1965 Ranchero from California that will make a nice a nice truck when it comes out of body shop prison, a 1967 Olds cutlass with the rare Turnpike Cruiser package, and my 2013 Ford Lariat crew cab.  Ohhh...forgot my Austin Healey replica with a 2300 ford fuel injected turbo motor,5 speed.panasports, roll up windows, full top and super detailed ( ready for a new owner!!)  I like em all...I'm a freakin car nut.  Never saw a car I didn't like.    Tom
