Henry sent me some more pics so I added a few of them to my file folder this morning. Two of them show the key-lock front and rear deck lock installations; the rear lock install (except for the key barrel) will be covered by the usual square-weave carpeting.

The "late" Carrera rear deck lid (six louvers instead of five) is all fiberglass (no "sandwiched" louvered metal panel insert).

George,
I was wondering what you did about badging. I know I don't want IM's badge on the back, but it looked like Henry had it integrated into the trunk handle. There was an IM side badge and IM on the passenger interior. Don't want to offend him in any way and don't want to pretend that it will be a real 356, but I think it would be fun to have Porsche badges that were appropriate for my car- after all it is reproduction of the original right?

With that in mind, can you tell me for a Roadster what would the badging have been?

Thanks, Scott
When I had my car built, I sat with Henry and we went over the specs. He asked if I wanted the "INTEMECCANICA" badging and I told him that it looked nice but I wanted to go with the "PORSCHE" badging. His reply if I remember was "It is your car" I purschased the correct "stuff" and had to do the drilling and mounting myself. Not a difficult task, but the front "PORSCHE" was a bugger (due to the compound curves and the thickness of the glass) and I ended up at the body shop for that individual badge.

I did ask Henry to put on his coach builder badge. My reasoning was, yes, it is a replica Porsche Speedster, but "Intermeccanica" is the coach builder. It is a very nice badge and it is positioned where the "Reuter" badge would be located. I don't know if it is important but to me, it added a bit of honesty or integrity to the car, just my simple opinion.

The IM crest on the hood handle can be replaced with the Porsche Crest.

Scott, you're paying top dollar for your car, you should have it built exactly the way you want it.
I don't think Henry would be offended if you asked him to delete any IM badging.
The correct emblems/badges as I understand are:

Drauz Badge - right front fender
Porsche Hood Handle Crest
Meister Shaften Badge - dash
Porsche Dash Emblem
Drauz VIN/Color Plate - drivers side door, where door hinge attaches to body
Porsche Emblem (script) - front of car above bumper
Porsche Emblem (script) - rear, above license plate
1600, 1600 Super, or Super 90 Emblem (script) - rear, above license plate
Made in Germany Plate - in trunk??

All of these can be found on the Parts Obsolete website www.partsobsolete.com/.

I may have a brand new Porsche Hood Handle Crest that I could sell you.

As mentioned, the Drauz coachbuilder's badge on the right fender is correct for the "D", with another small paint/body badge high on the left front door sill.

Henry is badgeing my car with the Reutters coachbuilder badge on the right fender and I asked him to put the Intermeccanica coachwork badge on the left fender and his badge on the trunk handle. All other script, etc., will be correct 1956 Porsche Carrera badgeing.
Nice to have a data plate too. These are available in blank from Fibersteel, and they will stamp the numbers for you. I recommend that IM's numbers be used, as they will match what is on the frame and on the dash. BTW, IM also puts a data plate on the door panel near the striker. I wouldn't mess with these, or ask Henry to delete it, because it is referred to by customs when importing the vehicle into the states. I guess what you do with them after that is largely up to you.
