one more important note .... in order to make everthing work - for everyone - all times are important. In other words, if it says we are leaving at 1:00pm you can count on an empty parking lot by 1:05! Don't be late !!! Be considerate of other's time, please.

See you all there.

Whooooo, hooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Trails,
Dusty and the Lovely Miss Sharon
countdown is 17 days! Any of you making last minute decisions to come please log into the Poll so we can make plans for the right number at the meals and tours.

Last minute preparations ... take a hammer and bang it against your head 4 or 5 times a day to get ready to deal with Vince, Jim and a few unnamed other "miscreants" in the group!

The other day, I was speaking on the phone to Will Pierson and he asked if I wanted to ride up to Morro Bay with him. I indicated that I wasn't going.

After the conversation, my wife asked about Morro Bay and since I hadn't planned on going, she knew nothing about the event. (Sometimes, it "good" to keep them in the dark)

Well, she inicated that she thought it would be nice if we took the motorhome up to the Morro Bay.

The bottom line is this, we're going up on Thursday and coming home on Sunday so, SEE YOU THERE!!!!!
Just a short note to get everyone enthused about our gathering. It looks like a TREMENDOUS turnout. I just spoke with the Days Inn and they tell me they have 24 rooms filled with our group. If anyone is still planning on a last minute I believe they still have a couple of rooms available and will give the group rate, if you request it.

The weather map says we are going to have terrific weather, unlike the last two years! Keep your fingers crossed, but bring an umbrella just in case. (all of our meals this year are inside, however)

Sharon has made streamer decorations for each of your cars to use in the parade and she will provide each of your with a Speedster/Morro badge with you name on it.

Don't forget your package for the "surprise gift exchange"

Look out Morro Bay, here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Trails,

If my recolection serves me well, the Day's Inn is located on the west side of Main St. Further south, on the east side of Main St. is an old garage that contains about 20 to 30 old cars. The last time I was in Morro Bay, the garage was open for viewing. It's an intersting place to visit.

Also on Main St. is Happy Jack's bar. Back in 1965, when it was legal to commercially dive for abalone, I worked a season as a diver. That was the local hang out for every diver in the area.

When you're in Morro Bay, make sure you go down to Embarcadero St. Most of the shops that now sell tourist trinkets were the abalone processing plants where we sold our catch.

Also in Morro Bay, and usually on the weekends is the local street vendors. They meet at the north end of Embarcadero near the power plant that has 3 huge towers.

If you like sea food, there are a couple of restruants near the power plant that have great food.

Another neat spot is Cayucous. It's just north of Morro Bay along Highway 1. Exit on Cayucous, turn left and head towards the water. Plenty of Antique shops and watering holes.

Additionally, Hearst castle is up the road about 45 minutes.
Gerd,
You obviously haven't read all of the details at the opening of this thread...."GIFT EXCHANGE - bring a car oriented gift (model, cap, book, tool, polish supplies, etc) worth $15 or more. Put it in a sealed BROWN paper bag. You will be given a drawing ticket in exchange for your gift. As your number is drawn you get choice of any bag but your own. Should be a lot of fun!! DO NOT mark with your name! This is an anonymous fun exchange. "

Go back and read it again.

Dusty
Hi Friends,

Haven't been on much but have been thinking about our run and can't wait. What time is the so cal gang leaving? We probably won't be able to join you as we have to drop our daughter off at school etc. before we leave, but we won't be to far behind. We plan on getting out of here shortly after 8 am.

Be safe and see you all there, yippee the weather might actually be working with us this year!
