Happy Trails,
Dusty and the always Lovely Miss Sharon
Long line of Carlisle cars??? I only count 14. Now, understand, I have attended Carlisle three times and count myself as one of you, BUT I am justly proud of the turnout in Morro Bay (since I organize it) and still feel you(we) must meet the challenge. The only way this can be fairly judged is if a few Carlisle "old timers" come to Morro to personally oversee the count.

Happy planning,
Dusty
Personally, I've never gotten into the "we've had more there than you" thing (just ask EC Bruce). If you do all you can at whatever event you're organizing to have fun and special things to do, then people will decide for themselves if it's worth making the investment in time and money to show up. That's why Morro Bay and Carlisle are successful - fun people to be with, fun things to do (and the cars aren't bad, either!!)

What really matters to me is just getting more people involved with this hobby and getting more people to join us, not only at Morro Bay and Carlisle, but at Knotts, Henry's IM BBQ, the Obsolete Campout, Watkins Glen Vintage Races, the Dragon Run and the Oregon Cruise every year. If we could get another dozen local events all over the country every year, I would be thrilled as more and more people would be encouraged to attend something local and meet more Speedster/Spyder folks. That's what Bruce Stumpp was trying to do the first years he was organizing Carlisle, and it's been a hit ever since....

I'm slowly putting together a calendar of local events for 2009 and hope to roll it out around the Holidays. If you know about something local enough ahead of time, you may be more likely to attend and that is good for all of us!!
I wholeheartedly agree Gordon, it's about the people and the food and the driving and the cars, with a couple drinks that wash it all down. I got involved because of a common interest with some cool people. And I am so glad to be part of it, see you all in about six months!

PS: That line of cars went beyond what can be seen in the picture.
Oh My...."All expences paid", That Gerd is a hell of a nice fella...
I may have to return the new 65" HDTV I just purchased to help stimulate the economy....and the Blu-Ray system.....

Blake votes "he". I vote "she". Either way, your right s/he has their ass on backwards!

Sorry, we haven't been around in looooong while. You know we're not retired like all of you!

Dusty, thanks for all your planning efforts! We can't wait to see everyone! and this year we'll stay out in Morro Bay at least one night.

For the Friday wine tour, we'd really like to do the Eastside wineries (we have good connections at great wineries). In order to do that we'll have to plan on a bigger window of time. It would be easiest to meet in downtown Paso (at the park) that way people coming from north or south could meet up there. We're thinking around noon and then would end at the hotel in Morro Bay by 4pm. We would also provide a map and itinerary with times for the trip, so people can meet up anywhere along the way. What's everybody think?
