Just might see a bit of snow though ~
Alan--I'd take the Southern route using I 40. Snow wouldn't be much fun in such little car either, would it?---Jack
Jack, that's the way I would go ...retirement must be nice!
Alan--I work over 60 hours a week as a busines broker. I was 70 last March and hope to never retire! As long as I get my travel in plus the Speedster hobby I am a very happy camper!

I'm envious. I wish I enjoyed this working for a living thing as much as you do.

You are two years older than me so that makes you and "Old Fart". Just keep ddriving and pay no attention to these "kids" on the site ... like Vince!

All I gotta say is " geeze louise"
What youins goin' ta do when Dusty and the lovely Ms. Sharon move here to the Western North Carolina Mountains down the holla from me? Youins have eat grits, hog jowl, mountain oysters and my favorite::::; Roast possum with sweet potato casserole, hot biscuits served with coon drippins gravy and a side of cressies greens seasoned with fat back Yummmm Yummy! I forgot... maybe a little moleasses and butter to go long with the buttermilk!
That'll make me even drive out the hills to Morro Bay for a menu like the above. I could even bring along some our best road kill pizza a youngin grounhog squashed flat and allowed to dry in the sun!
GERD "THE OUTLAW"...Will you serve up the steamed Brazilian Clams?

Um... Aaron... You know how you didn't cook when several of us were there in April? Well, you can "not cook" again the next time I'm there. ;-)
Jeez Louise is right! We have gone from planning Morrow Bay to possom and sweet taters???? WTF? Lets get this thread back on Morrow Bay and lining up some more folks from the East and Central states to Caravan to the event!
And Dusty---don't make the date any later---even a bit earlier is ok with me. ---Jack

I AGREE WITH JACK APRIL SHOULD STAY THE MONTH FOR OUR EVENT
Question about date for the Gathering ..... only available dates are two weeks earlier (probably too cold); the week after our usual date (which puts us in the middle of the Hot Rod show -- bad timing); and two weeks later than our usual date (much better weather). Anybody want to weigh in on opinions????
Two weeks later sounds good to me...
Allows those who want to attend the Knott's show (not me)

Where does "two weeks later" line up with Carlisle?
Dusty--two weeks later kills Morrow Bay for me. Two weeks later makes it May 7,8 & 9 and Carlisle is just one week later than that, May 14,15 & 16. That knocks me and Marty out plus two others as well
so I hope you don't run Morrow Bay into Carlisle!! Also running Morrow Bay so close to Carlisle will likely prevent El Guappo from joining uw at Carlisle in which case we might as well cancel the damned thing!
I'd vote to have Morrow bay like this:
First Choice; April 9,10 &11 (Two weeks earlier than last year)
Second choice; April 16,17,18 (One week earlier than last year)
Third choice; April 23, 24 & 25 (Same as last year)

...or the same weekend as last year works for me as well!! Gotta have Jack, Mickey, Marty, Cal, Lane make this meet!
Same weekend is fine with me.
If it's the normal weekend, or even earlier, I have a lot better chance of making it. Still, I'm at best a "maybe" at this point, so my vote should be taken with the appropriate weight.

I'm not sure scheduling 2 weeks one way or the other makes any difference in weather. The big hot rod show got wet weather this year the week or two AFTER we were there. And, if I recall, the early June Solvang run was rained-out more than a month after Morro. Who can gues what is really going to happen.
Generally, there isn't any real difference in either temp or rainfall expectations during the period of late April through May: http://www.weather.com/weather/wxclimatology/monthly/graph/USCA0733

Hey Lane--I didn't know you were thinking about Morrow Bay---that's great! We should have a good "outside" contingent.
So far; South Carolina Delaware, Texas, Illinois, and Arkansas that I know about--also Cal in Oklahoma? Who else is thinking about this trip?
What shall we name our contingent?---jack

Jack, how about "rebels without a real Porsche" Or "Hardcore speedsters in search of El Guapo"
Mark, I agree on the weather prediction. In the Spring, it can be wet, dry, hot or cold. But I like the central coast then because it is still green.

seems like our regular date should stand, there is no predicting the weather. Why change a good thing? and with the Wrong Coast meet a few weeks later, it really wouldn't be fair to those guys that want to come to the Best Coast meet.
just my opinion, for what its worth, and thats not much!

"The only dates available" meaning what?
The only dates available at the same hotel in Morro Bay?
So that's it? We're re-running Morro Bay 2009 in 2010?
So, asking for "feedback" was...

If we are thinking of not doing the parade why are there only 2 available dates? I still say that we have dodged the weather bullet 2 years in a row with the April date. There is still a chance of rain in May, but almost no chance in June and the temperature would be just about perfect. As a reminder, it rained in central California during the week of our event this year and only stopped just before the weekend. On my drive over from Fresno, there were heavy clouds the entire way and I was sweating bullets.

John,
There are plenty of other dates available throughout the year, according to the CoC calendar. But it seems that most of those posting here want to stay with the current plan.
I know Dusty has a job on his hands; scheduling it from Colorado. It's easier for him to keep things as close to what they were this year.
However, if Dusty wanted some local help to check out other possibilities I'm sure he knows there are several of us here who could lend a hand in making that happen.

Dusty and folks...if you decide to keep the event in Morro Bay or the Central Coast area, I would be happy to help in finding hotels, restaurants, etc. Just let me know. For those looking for wine runs, there are plenty of great options available throughout the area.
