Last year in Morro Bay, Markos DOUBLE DARED Vince to light his bottle of Oban and throw it out the window!! Having LOST that bet, Markos had to wear Gerd's parade outfit to get more Oban at the liquor store.

jennifer - I think you meant to say that we keep TRYING to cancel Gerd, but he keeps showing up anyway!! Dang, that guy is persistent.
Well, it is with a bit of sadness that I have to bail on Morro this year. I really, really wanted to come out there and meet everyone but something has come up.
I love my wife dearly and she is about as understanding as anyone who would be married to me could be, so I have to respect and not push my luck.
Here's the deal - I got an invite to come to Montreal for the F1 race in June. A friend of mine is the editor of Vertical magazine (helicopters) and her friend is the pilot for TV aerial coverage. So not only will I get to go to a actual race but I will have media access AND possibly be able to go up for some of the coverage. It's an opportunity that likely won't come along again.
Being that I'm not in a position to be jet-setting all across the country, I had to make a choice: Morro in April or F1 in June.
Hopefully Morro is in the cards for next year, unless of course I get tickets to Monte Carlo ;).
All that said, I'll see everyone at Carlisle thsi year!

I'm sorry Gerd, Will, Dusty, everyone. Not for you, for me. I REALLY want to meet all of you someday and was hoping this April would be when I got to. I don't want to complain because I know hoe lucky I am to have to be torn between two great opportunites. My wife is freaking out because we just got tuition, car insurance, and summer camp bills all in the past week!!! Hey, the way I look at it is at least we won't have to worry about those for the rest of the year after we write the checks. :)

The check REALLY is in the mail now. Pls advise if you do not get it later in the week. All that is left on planning this adventure is to show up on time at BWI and get on the plane. I am really looking fwd to seeing a few old friends and making a bunch of new ones.
