Dean Tribute engine details nearly complete, but it’s really close. Factory 1955 Porsche 1500 Super on top and our motor on the bottom.
Not exact obviously, but pretty close in spirit.

You should have just sourced a black coil and you can finish dressing up the engine bay with some reproduction stickers like I did.
I've seen blue and black coils. The alternator/oil filler is the biggest giveaway, but for practicality's sake, I wouldn't complain..
Love the engine details.
I bought a black coil from F.A.S.T. and dressed it up with a $6 sticker from eBay.
Iirc, Gene Berg sells an alternator stand that allows the use of a 356/912 oil filler on a Type I engine. I opted for an angled aluminum one from CB because it fit with my PCV scheme and it wasn't $500+the adapter. Then I found my spare one in my 912 parts.
Not so much of a "thing" on a Spyder, because it's well hidden.
Nice job. I was not so purist. When I rebuilt the 912 about 6yrs and 25k miles ago I had to add color. Still number matching block but bumped to 1750.

Here's mine the day I installed the rebuilt original motor. Obviously, my body needed more work.
Here’s mine. But my Vintage Speedster gets driven more frequently. Heading to a car parade this weekend, the 912 is staying home
@BADSPD - Stephen nice ‘Z’ plate. I have since replaced my black plate frame with the original Bill Yates San Clemente dealer frame.
@Speedster Dreams cool website!
I need stickers, but my engine is getting a little long in the tooth. It needs a rebuild.
@Speedster Dreams- Do you need the added output of the alternator or would a 12 volt generator do it? Unless you're running a bunch of accessories that need the extra power that 1 detail would go a long way to completing the look you're after... Al
