motor mounts

did a search and this one post a guy said he had to put in berg solid motor mounts for his 2110 to drive decently.
im getting a 2110 in the next 60 days and am concerned. are the stock mounts adequate and how does one tell if a mount is bad.

There are are no "real" motor mounts on a VW... The engine mounts up the the transaxle via (2) upper bolts and (2) long studs that are part of the engine case. Changing out the front transaxle mount to a solid mounts and the rear transaxle cradle mounts creates a lot of vibration noise but, it does make for a solid drive train. Try what you have first then decide if the engine torques "in place" too much then you may have to go to a firmer mount.
