What is the meeting time and place for those of us who may be arriving on Friday the 9th?

Hmmm... It depends on the BMW plant tour schedule. Tom, when is our tour and when should we expect to leave the hotel and get back?

John, are you planning to do the plant tour?

Plant is approx 70 miles from Asheville.
Tour begins at 2:15 PM, and we need to arrive 15-30 minutes early.

I suggest we start out (from Asheville) @ noon, or perhaps 11:30 AM, and allow for a fast food break along the way.

Lane is to inform us of the starting point (Hilton) ?????

Lane, yes we are. Now I have some idea what time we will need to leave the home 20 to arrive on time at the hotel. Definitely doable.

Yep, the Hilton seems like the wise place to meet up. We should probably grab a quick bite to eat somewhere before hitting the road, doncha think?

DOH! Just realized Tom already covered the "bite to eat" thingie.

Lane, we will travel directly to Greer from home and link up with the group at the BMW plant. We will proceed to Asheville and the hotel after the BMW tour. Do you need anything else? I did make a German meal selection earlier.

I am not sure if we will make the BMW tour either. If so, we will proceed as Mr. Gardner and will meet up in Greer. Otherwise, we will see you guys once you get back to the hotel in Asheville. Lane, are you still on the 8050 number?

Lane---Russ wanted to attend but has major work issues demanding his attention. He is the top IT guy with BB&T Bank and respopinsible for everything. They are coming into a extra busy season so he's stuck there.

Alice and I will drive the Speedster over to Wilson, NC to visit Russ, Brenda and the grandkid---I wouldn't get that cloose to Wilson and miss seeing them!

We will be coming in Thursday sometime taking the back way from Cleveland to the Blue Ridge and over....

Folks, I've just made reservations for 15-20 people for lunch at the Bistro at the Biltmore Winery for 12:30 on Sunday. For those of you who were there last year, that is where we had lunch after the wine tasting.

Drive all day yesterday on the BRP. The southern section has better views than the north and is at a higher elevations. Pisgah Inn is a about a 12 mile run from the hotel (coffee stop with a late lunch upon return trip). Note than fuel stops a far and few between fill your tank before departure. We will pass Pisgah Inn (see above) and return after obtaining 6033 feet...the highest point on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The Bavarian is German as I could find. The smoked sausages are etc. is home-made by Doc. These are sampled at the bar. All beer is German. As Doc says..."Why go to a German Restaurant and NOT eat German food!!!" The owner does not recommend the American steak. Photos later of the interior later.

The cafe offers wild game also. Bison, wild boar, rabbit, etc. when he is able to get the game. the wild beast fest is $32.95/person. The reason we are ordering in advance is that we would eating later.

Oh yeah... Two more have joined us. Dr. Sam Gruber and a friend (Steve, I think) are coming up from Ft. Lauderdale. Sam runs a shark research facility on Bimini. I hope it's still standing after Irene.

Have you extracted the orders from this thread, or do we need to repeat via email?

The Pisgha Inn can NOT take reservations at the restaurant per Park regulations. We can be walk-ins, but if I call about and hour before arrival they can make "Special Arrangements". Breakfast is over at 10:30, lunch is from 11;00 till 4:00. Also, coffee and "stuff" is available at the Country Store. The Park people have removed fuel services off the Parkway.

I can extract, but those that ordered steak may be disappointed. A decision that may not be a good one...just saying. Doc makes the sausages himself and the bread is home made German style.

Aaron, I ordered the following in the original thread: "Alpine Kreuter Butter Steak (Marinated Herbs) Pan-fried in Herbs and Special Spices. It's Sooooooooo GOOOOD! Mashed Potato, Vienna Salad, German Bread & Herb Butter. "

I suppose I fell for the "It's Sooooooooo GOOOOD!" If you're saying to avoid it and go with the Sauerbraten, I'll do that.

I just e-mailed ours too. Sarah wanted the steak, but will go with the Sauerbraten if the steak is really problematic.
