Guys, I am going to go ahead and book our room here in a few days. From what I have read it looks like the group rate is still good for another week or so? I think we are going to drive up from Woodstock on Thursday or Friday morning. As far as a game plan I am up for whatever. A scenic drive is a must for me but, I can follow that up with football, shooting the s*it with everyone and adult beverages and that is my idea of a perfect day. I think Lori wants to go to the Biltmore so we might try to come up Thursday to get that in.
Per the Contract our rates expire tomorrow, if you want the deal you should make your reservation tomorrow. I believe the rate goes up a lot.
I will call the hotel tomorrow and see if I can get them to extend the rate for a few days, no guarantee.
Clint
Cool. Thanks Clint. I was hoping to send out my "collector" this week to get people to pay up on some open invoices before I book but, i'll do what I gotta do!
-Chase
Chase---great news that you are joining us! You will really enjoy this event!
Well my weekend in Sept just got rescheduled by my Company and I now have to spend it in San Antonio instead of Asheville with you guys & gals. :0(
Chase if you haven't gotten your reservation yet let me know and I'll get mine transferred to you so you get the discount.
Clint
CRAP, Clint! That truly sucks. I do appreciate the help with the hotel.
How many of you will be there on Friday night, if you plan something count me in I'm not leaving until Sat morning.
Clint
I'll certainly be there Friday night. Heck, I'm planning to arrive Wednesday for some face-time with the in-laws.
WOW!!!
A huge turnout????
Clint,
If someone has not taken you up on the reservation I will! Just let me know what I need to do! Sorry to hear that you can't come. That sucks. Really looking forward to meeting everybody.
Thanks,
Chase
Hey Aaron! You made the jump to the new SOC!
Chase you can have it... Send me your full name and I will get my reservation change to you, then you can call the hotel with your credit card and other info.
Send it to me at:
cbowings@me.com
Lane, what are you going to plan for Friday and Friday night I what to at least make that.
Haven't thought about it yet, but I will keep you posted. You got any ideas (since you're in the area)?
Hey Aaron! Long time, no... er... read!
So, are folks not planning to meet until Friday evening? If so that would change my plans.
If all goes well, the wife and I will arrive Thursday afternoon.... Hopefully driving the golddigger....
Great! If nothing much is scheduled for Friday, I was thinking about making a run over to Aaron's.
We could all make such a run. Maybe that, along with some time on the Blue Ridge, could be the Friday run. Aaron?
Tom - We "plan" to get together starting Friday morning, perhaps even Thursday evening, but there is no real plan yet. Heck, we could just play it by ear as there are plenty of place to eat/socialize around the hotel or within a few miles.
Just bookeked in at the Hilton.... Same $159.00 rate.... Good people....
I will probably have dinner Thursday with my in-laws, but could drive over and meet the early-arrivers for a drink. They live only a couple of miles away.
We should be arriving early Friday afternoon. We doing drinks or something on Friday night?
Oh yeah. There are plenty of places to eat.
Just to get a count, could everyone please chime in and tell me how many are in their party and when they will arrive? Thanks.
Dos, two, II, A pair, 2..... Take your pick. 8-)

Just a thought. There is a response feature in the calendar. It doesn't recognize number of attendees, but it would be nice to see who's coming ata glance.
Good idea. I've created a calendar event for it. You can add a comment including how many folks when you update your status.
UPDATE: Looks like Clint had already created one. Oh well... Now we have two.
Attending: ein
arriving: Samstag, 0 dark thirty
departing: Sontag
Me plus the boss.
Everybody set and ready for this outing or what? After two months of dealing with the Ga DMV and DOR I am finally set. Now for a tune up and adjustment the VS will really be ready! Can't wait.
I certainly am. We still need to decide on Friday's cruise/activities, but I'm open to suggestions. I never heard back from Aaron.
Cool. We should be there around lunchtime on Friday so we are up for whatever. I guess when it gets a little closer I might grab some cell number's from you guys.
My son and I are off on a special birthday trip this week. Atlanta to Munich, touring BMW, he has rented a new M3 for one day from the BMW Welt, and we are bombing it out to Ruf in pfaffanhausen. Then off to Stuttgart for a wallow in Porsche and MB, then neckarshulm for an Audi R8 plant tour, next day a lap or two on the Nurburgring, then it's on to Spa for the Belgian Grand Prix on labor day weekend. perhaps a stop at one or two bier Hoffs.
Hell ya don't turn 65 but once. might as well do it in style.
Many stories to tell come Asheville. And............................I might match Lane bringing Pam by Cynthia attending as well !
I am stoked about this trip. I didn't know where life was going to take in May, so, I stupidly bailed on Carlisle. Now I'm working part-time as a consultant and it's work that doesn't get in the way of my life and I can get away for a long weekend with no worries. Looking forward to seeing folks again and meeting some new folks. Also looking forwarded to some great drives. Whether the group goes or not, I plan to make a run on the dragon while I'm down there. Whoever wants to join me can.
I know I am late to the game, but at this point I am a definite maybe. Trying to work out schedules etc. and will know by mid next week. Have been looking at a map and may break the 700 mile drive into two days. So far my longest trek has been 3hrs and a don't know if I am ready for a 10+ hour haul. Best guess is to drive to Lexigton Ky, then and easy drive to NC on Friday. If this comes to fruition will try and get Marty to roadtrip as well.
The drive from here (Charleston, SC) to Carlisle, PA is ~750 miles. I break it into one fairly long and one relatively short day. Definitely too long for a straight slog in a Speedster - or anything else, in my opinion.
Lane--that how I do it. 700 is much too far in a Speedster.
I did do a 16 hour trip last stopping only for gas from Milwaukee to Hot Springs --I was goofy when I pulled into the driveway. That was in a Sonatta---great road car.
Tom---glad you're doing the Smokies trip! Everyone else too!
OK, I haven't heard back from Aaron regarding the possibility of a trip to his place on Friday. I am now soliciting Friday cruise ideas. I am not in the area, and the only road I know is the Blue Ridge, which we are doing (north to Boone) on Saturday. We can freestyle (everybody do their own thing) on Friday, we can seek out other hidden gems of winding roads, we can shop (the wives will love that), or we can <fill in the blank>.
Meanwhile, I'll try emailing Aaron later.
I'm pretty much down for the same plan. I'm going to have to skip the Dragon (girlfriends close friend died on a motorcycle there two years ago so I am pretty sure she does not want to be on that road). Everything else we are all in baby!!
