Mentioned weekend at our TriCities PCA meeting last night. Hopefully a few folks may join us on Saturday's ride.
Sweet!! The more, the merrier. Is Hugh coming?
I'll be up there in a week folks! Can't wait to see everybody. I'll get the phone numbers, etc. sent out this weekend.
I can't wait for this trip! I just ordered my iPhone 5 early this morning and it mercifully won't be arriving until after the trip :-). This trip will cap off the best season ever. I got my car out of storage with the top down in 80 degree weather in March. Not too long after this trip, Natalie will be returning home to Bremen to winter and get another round of upgrades. A very satisfying year. Next year, Carlisle, for sure. Jack's working on me to drive to CA next year. I would love that, but need to wait for the little one to get a tad older. It definitely sounds like a cool idea. I'm hoping that the CA crew makes an even bigger appearance next year at Carlisle and brings GERD with them.
Btw, I,ll be loading up next Wednesday, Ferry Porsche's birthday.
SATURDAY:
I will be arriving the Hilton at approx 8 AM, hopefully with a few area PCA types in tow.
Assuming the Sat drive starts at 9, that will allow time for breakfast at the hotel.
Do we have a Sat route yet ?
Just drivin' up to Boone on the BRP, eating lunch, pausing to let it settle, and then returning via the BRP, or for those with stronger stomachs, the Diamondback. Do you know those roads well enough to provide some guidance?
Tom--what will you be driving? Looking forward to being with you!
Which Tom? I will be driving Natalie. I imagine the other Tom will be driving Big Bird.
I'm hoping that since it's only a day trip, he'll bring one of the other toys I got a ride in back in May. Niiiiiice.
WOOHOO!!! Leavin' tomorrow late morning and will be in Asheville by Happy Hour.

Lane!
Car still running OK?
Enquiring minds want to know (while inquiring minds wish to know......)
Didn't you get my email reply? Yeah, it was running fine the last time I drove it (Sunday). If worst comes to worst, I'll drive the BMW, but I don't think that'll happen. I will bring all my tools just in case I have to do carb surgery again.
Guys I am not going to be able to join you after all. Have a work meltdown that I need to be in Atlanta on Thursday. I am so bummed, I even got my fire extinguisher for the trip. Have a great time and I will be jealously thinking of you all hitting the TOD. When is Carlisle??
Bummer Joe. That's one of the reason I had to give up on that full-time work stuff. Carlisle is in May. Not sure of the exact dates yet. Stay tuned, someone will post all of the details before you know it. Carlisle planning usually starts in around October :-)
Planning for Carlisle has already started, we're investigating new dinner venues for Friday and Saturday nights. Dates are May 16-19. Do a search for "Carlisle Import and Kit Nationals 2013", we'll start posting details for the Speedster gathering here later this year.
Have fun playing in the mountains, guys.
Crap, Joe! We all need to retire so this "work" thing (notice it's a 4-letter word) stops getting in the way. Maybe we should all pool our money and buy a lot of Powerball tickets.
WAIT! Atlanta's not that far away. Maybe you could rent a car and join us on Saturday and Sunday. Maybe even change your return flight to leave from Asheville.
Joe, I guess I don't have to call you and tell the same story. Every needy last minute client of mine came out of the woodworks this week and I have to attend meetings both Thursday and Friday. In addition, my son took a bad spill on a hard floor in PE and ended up in the hospital yesterday. He has a bad concussion but luckily all the other test ran are negative. I am really bummed as the weather looks to be perfect in Asheville NC.
I have been invited to run with the FuelFed group to WI the weekend of Oct 6th. These are some of the PCA guys and other classic import group that do events in the area. Let me know if your interested. It's an overnighter into Central WI with lunch, back-road touring, a visit to some guys racing car collection, dinner, and a cars and coffee in small WI town Sunday morning. Looks like they have 15 cars. Its limited to 25 cars and 50 people. This will be a good one to bring your wife to. Let me know if interested.
Bummer, I guess I have to represent the Midwest Mafia.
Tom, bummer is an understatement. Please enjoy for us who cant attend and show what a beautiful place this is. I cant believe we do not get more people interested in this event. Maybe it needs to be more planned out to get people on board. I guess there will always be those who drive and attend the events and those who just rub their Tubs with a diaper. I am for driving
I'm hoping to add this, or something like it, to my grille
Thanks for inviting me, Marty :-)..."cars and coffee in small WI town Sunday morning"...see you there...finally...this is a cool place. Lake Mills, just off I-94 half way between Madison and Milwaukee. http://2shores.com/events-clas...collector-lake-mills
I'm in Marty, just let me know what the plan is. As for the wife coming on this trip as usualy soccer dominates the weekends around here. @Rich this is your neck of the woods and guessing you will be there as well.
Joe, Marty didn't really invite me on his "special" trip, but he can't keep me away from the Lake Mills event (it's public) and barring bad weather, I hope to be there. It's less than an hour trip from my house and the autos there and the local garage is really worth the trip (I attended one back in June).
Okay, Marty, you'll always be "smarty pants" in my mind. Oh, wait, you want me to call you, I see now. I thought you were sooooooo busy at work? I'll call, this sounds like it could be important.

Lane - eight days into retirement, and I don't miss work at all
Nine years for me now and I'm never going back.
Well crap. Looks like a small turn out this year. Maybe we need to let this one rest for a bit after this year as we just aren't getting any traction.
What, you just found out today there were 3 of you?
Sarah and I had a great dinner with Jack and Alice in Lenoir City. These guys are real troopers and I wish I could join the gang. Maybe next year. Sigh!
Marion / Margaret and I will be on the road around 11:00am...... See all of you there...
Had Happy Hour with Jack and Alice, Leon and Margaret, and Tom Blankinship. Jack may have Tom beat on shear distance, but Tom's 11 1/2 slog from Detroit to Asheville wins the Iron Butt in One Swell Foop award in my book. Russ and his wife arrive tomorrow, and Tom Raymond will meet us early Saturday. Weather and scenery are perfect.
Tell Tom he can go to bed early...
Tom planned to get up early this morning to do the Tail of the Dragon and then meet us at the museum. He texted me that it was too chilly and foggy, and that he would start later and skip the museum. I think he was just beat and slept in.
The museum crowd today will be just Jack and Alice, Leon and Margaret, and me. We should have at least a couple more folks for the Blue Ridge Parkway cruise to Little Switzerland and the Diamondback tomorrow.
That's the problem with these gatherings, they should take place over a period of a month or so.
BTW, Tom, returning home looks to be NO snow. You're in luck.
