First find out whats making the 1 inch difference. On a flat surface (garage floor) Place the body on the pan and take some measurements. Find the high spot. The pan might even have a little twist to it. Find the cause first then we tackle the fix. 1 inch is too much to shim.
Curious as to where you measured to -- top of wheel arches? bottom of quarter panels? Might be the rear suspension was not lowered equally on either side or the front axel springs are not in the end arms on one side or a shock is rusted/frozen in position. Is it entire side or a single corner? When you sit in car does it go down?
I have the same situation on the build I am doing ...measure from the chassis to the floor not the speedster body, I bet you'll still have the 1" difference = rear torsion bar adjustment , since it is 1" you can just move the torsion bar on the outside spline ,1" notch to get the 1" needed
Could it be that the height difference was due to a torsion adjustment made for a previous owner's weight in the driver's seat? Maybe a shock adjustment? I'm asking because I took about .75 in shims out.
Guy's thanks, I do believe it is the tornson bar that need adjustment. I have the car up on jack stands wheels off and in the morning will try my hand at ajusting the bars.
