Thanks all.
I think I am going to combine the use the elevator/flat head bolts with a steel or aluminum support glassed on to the back of the blade. This will hopfully give me enough of a recess to not have issues with the trim and mounting hardware.
A bit of backstory - I have pretty much left the car alone for years - just drove it now and then on nice days. I recently thinned the heard a bit, selling off several cars from my collection. The vintage is now the only "Porsche" left in a sea of British stuff. Being that it is has been reliable and fun all of these years, I feel it is time to give it some love back. the plan is to make it as authentic as possible. I am doing the bumpers, adding wheel studs with GT rear spacers and doing the door cards now. This winter it will be correcting the dash (I want it padded and completed all the way to the door gap per the original), installing an under dash umbrella handle ebrake, and getting the gauges redone. I must admit, I am pretty excited to work on this little car.
Thanks again for the replies -
