mounting lugage rack | 356 Speedster, 550 Spyder, Replica, Automotive Community

The new VS luggage rack just arrived however it looks like it mounts right through the engine grill, and bolts to the inner cover. As I have already cut out the entire area under the grill to allow cooling air, there is now nothing to mount to.

I could make another new engine cover or at a minimum the outer skin, however would rather not as I have put a lot of time into clearancing it for fan shroud clearance and making it pretty underneath.
How do others approach this problem?

The VS rack legs will not line up to fit through the CMC grill with out modifications...you'll have to fabricate "dog leg" style rack legs and with your deck lid cut, probably a 1-1/4" ring bonded around the inner deck lid opening to support the luggage rack legs.
