I have a new front bumper and deco strip (bumper guards as well). The front bumper looks like the bumper bracket bolts go inside of the deco strip behind the rubber. If I remove the rubber strip from a brand new deco strip will I be able to get it back in over the bolts without jacking it all up? Any tips for doing this are greatly appreciated. Can it be slid the whole way, or do I need to jam it in with a standard screwdriver or something? It seems like it may be WAY easier to just make a void in the metal where the bolt head will sit and be done with it.

Yup. The deco goes over the bolts. You can remove the rubber insert then work it back in with a little finesse. Mine was installed with no slippery aids or anything of that nature....just a little patience.

you should be able to remove the deco strip and then reinstall it with out problems. Dawn dish soap works well to lube the rubber strip, be careful with a flat blade screwdriver not to scratch the paint FYI. My CMC bumper deco was easy to remove and install

Hey LTL,
Don't do this. The reason you went out and purchased the bumper and the deco strip was to make the car look 'right'. Take a little more time and do the install the right way. Do it right the first time and you'll be happier in the long run.
The strip goes in a lot easier than you think it will. Let it sit in the sun while you install the metal deco piece. By the time you're ready for the rubber piece it will be nice and supple.

It would look exactly the same with the head of the bolt under the rubber, just not over the metal strip. I played with the old rubber and it is a pain to re-install even short lengths, but it is 7+ years old.
A short cut that works.... they supply small carriage bolts and nuts which are not necessary and are time consuming to drill, install. All you need to do is use short self tap hex w/ 5/15 heads on a cordless drill ( the hex heads are small enough to not show under the rubber) ...zip zip your done.
Did any of you re-install the rubber after the bumper, and metal portion of the deco were installed? This would make getting those corner bolts connecting to the rear fender easier to install, but as stated would increase risk of doing something to the paint by accident. I guess the bumper guards would cause an issue though. I'd have to cut and stuff the rubber under them.
