Moving and Registration in NY State

I live in Long Island, NY and I have had no problems registering it in NY and I registered it as an historical. I bought the car from Oregon and it was titled in Oregon as a 1970 Volkswagen that was not questioned. It is now registered in NY as the same.

Thanks Steve.  I think with the NJ Title and Registration in hand, I should not have an issue.  I am not going to go out of my way to "ask any questions". Just simply register the car and get out with no problems.

Yours wasn't ever a VW though - so that sometimes becomes issue with Special Construction title.  You won't qualify for Historic plates.  Just don't let them put Porsche on title without Replica or Beck with it.  If still for sale - why not just leave with NJ plates - don't you have 30 or 60 days to change title?

What are the make, model and year on your NJ title?

Registration is likely the same, but that will not come into play when you transfer title to NY.

I bought my beck from texas where it was titled 57 Porsche.so I kept it the same and had no problems.i live on long island also.steven spinner-I thought I was  the only speedster replica guy on the island,unless your the guy I met in northport a year ago.we will have to hook up some time.

I will double check but I think the car is Titled as 1957 Beck SPC (special construction)  Being the 2nd owner, this is how it was Titled when I purchased the car.

New York can be Draconian with respect to kits, but not quite as bad as Jersey.

If it's already titled, you should be able to just transfer into NY and register it, no problem.

I bought my Speedster from another SOC'er in Jersey so piece of cake to title, however it's listed as a 69 beetle/57 porsche with historic plates.
