Some of you may remember this car from Carlisle where I brought the car a couple of times; for those that don’t: This is a CMC widebody that I bought in August 2010 out of Baltimore with baby moons, a 1500 single port with an interior that looked like a crime scene. I stripped the entire car down replacing 95% of it. Saving only the wiring harness, wiper motor and 914 gauge cluster. The interior was gutted and covered with Dynamat sound deadening, a hole was cut in the firewall over the transmission and a sealed subwoofer was installed which was covered in fiberglass on the exterior to protect from the elements. I finished the an interior purchased from Vintage Speedsters, including new carpet, seats(with heat in both cushions, door panels and dash pads. To that, a banjo steering wheel was added, as was a center console, (had to have someplace clean to hide the heated seat switches). Two speakers were added to each door which, like the subwoofer are controlled by an under-dash single din Alpine receiver and fed by an 1800 watt Planet Audio amplifier located over the gas tank in the boot. USB audio input in the center console so you can play and charge your phone.
The front suspension was removed entirely as was the steering assembly and replaced with an Eye-Ball Engineering double A-Arm suspension with coil overs. Disc brakes were installed on all four corners and new brake lines(hard and soft) were run throughout. The old transmission was replaced with a Rancho Pro-street Freeway flyer and the original engine was a 1915. The car sits on chrome 17x7 Porsche Fuchs replicas.(no there isn't any curb rash)
The body of the car was stripped, sanded blocked level sealed primed and finished in Porsche 2010 Carbon Grey then cleared. A third brake light was frenched in to the underside rear decklid which is controlled by a linear actuator within the engine compartment and controlled inside the car. The top and side curtains are black Sta-fast also sourced from Vintage. The halogen headlights were replaced with a set of custom built bi-xenon units. In 2013 the car was given the Standard of Excellence Award at Carlisle.
Sadly, the original 1915 let go and was replaced with an 1835 which was to take me to Carlisle in 2014. The 1835 from 2014 to now has approximately 30 min of run time on it because when I initially fired up, it was determined to have a rod knock; disillusioned and disappointed after two engines to accomplish approximately 4k miles, I quit on the car, and it has been stored ever since.
Life and time have moved on and now it seems I should as well. I replaced the battery a week ago, put some fresh gas in the car and backed it out of the garage for a bath. The car is still breaking necks at 1’ not 20’ but like anything used has a few marks. If you need additional details, or photos, have questions please ask.
