Muffel your R's (mufflers) | 356 Speedster, 550 Spyder, Replica, Automotive Community

I currently have the EMPI header/single muffler 'quiet' version. It's just not really quiet…. I have a similar looking BURSCH on my 912 and it is quiet. Are the "fat boy" mufflers any quieter. Anyone have any advise for a muffler that actually muffles ????

Phat Boys are also very loud.

You could try a Vintage Speed system (I think they're a bit quieter), or do what I did. I bought a sidewinder header from A1 and had a custom system made, with a big Magnaflow muffler, to keep the noise down.

I originally had a merged header with a Phat boy muffler and it was tolerable when the top was down, but unbelievably noisy when the top was up.

Phat boy has a lot of drone. Hang way to low on our cars, and look horrible. I couldn't wait to nix mine.
