When you get to that final stretch and anything that could go wrong did.... hence the name Murphy! Well not too pleased with the final interior work. Plenty of unfinished work from the upholstry shop I have found. He had the car for 6 weeks and did the work in 3 days . Go figure. When I finally go the car home. I was time to start it up. Oil in the crankcase. Everything checked and rechecked. Fired it up. Had a bad starter. Starter replaced. Another go at it. This time the engine was purring.... then it stop suddenly. Oh %*^(*(*&%! Pulled the engine . It was very locked up. Word to the wise use carb cleaner to blow out stainless braided oil lines, Compressed air doesn't blow it out completely in smaller diameter lines. Never had this problem with race car we had. Well some of the braiding made its way to the mains .... damage - bearings and engine case. The engine is repaired and back in the body. Now I just having a problem getting the engine to fire. Valve are all adjusted. Had to set the distibutor to the # 2 cylinder because it very difficult to get to #1. Nothin but back firing thru the carbs. The Plug wires are in the right place.I have never been one for electrical including ignition system. Any suggestions on how to set the distributor /timing on any #2 or # 4 cylinders?
Well to top it off . My new windshield arrived from California Tueday while I was off in Houston. I opened the box tonight and found that the glass had multiple cracks. Thanks alot UPS!!!! So thats three windshields in 3 months. I think I have a record. Thats the update on "Murphy".
