My 1984 Intermeccanica History

Congrats on your find – one of the ‘first 40’ (production #40 in fact), built in 1984 (not 1987)

I’m afraid that there is very little recorded information available for your car. Intermeccanica was ‘just getting production started’ in Vancouver in the years 1982-84, having to move the shop a couple of times in that period. It was important to try and generate some sales, and record keeping got somewhat left behind at the time.

Original Body Color: Guards Red (Porsche color code: POR 027)

Build Year: 1984

Delivery Date: June 4, 1984

*This vehicle was only built and delivered (by Intermeccanica) to the level of ‘Coach’ (no engine, transmission, running gear).

  Intermeccanica has no information as to what final engine and transmission were installed in the vehicle other than that the coach was designed and

  manufactured to accept a VW Type 1 (Beetle) engine and VW Type 1 4-speed manual transmission.
