I tried to list my very nice 380sl and they would not accept the listing.

I can not figure what formula they use to determine what listings they accept.  I’ve seen go karts, military vehicle and some awful early 80s Honda’s.  Why they pass on a Mercedes that beautiful is a mystery.   I know Troy S.  listed his awesome Vintage Outlaw... would love to hear others thoughts on how they select cars.   I did hear it is close to 40 days to even get on.  

I even listed at no reserve as I had heard they didn’t like reserve auctions.  They just said my listing was not accepted, no rationale.

Seems BAT says no just because they can. Kinda like an HOA or any other committee, BOD or governing body that has a captive audience. 

BAT would not accept this show quality buggy I built last fall.  My reserve was going to be $15k they wanted it to list at no reserve. Sold on FB Market Place in half a day.

That's just odd. That SL is a very desirable car.

I'd make a pithy statement about power being a corrupting influence, and about the dangers of powerful governments in general, but that talk is verbotin here (I've found).

To give you some additional perspective, we are a curated marketplace and unfortunately cannot list every vehicle that comes through our system. R107's  are one of the most frequently submitted models to the site and we are inundated with submissions of great examples. This means we are often faced with the difficult decision of turning down good cars from motivated sellers like yourself. Additionally, this is a very busy time of year at BaT and we are having to be more selective with cars in this general price range at the moment, as we unfortunately cannot list them all.

 

We certainly appreciate the merits of your car and our decision does not mean it isn't desirable. As much as we hate to pass on any listing, sometimes it is a necessary part of our curation process.

 

We appreciate that you considered BaT Auctions and wish you best of luck with the sale. We hope to have the opportunity to work with you in the future.
