Hi My car has been with me for 3 month now . The car itself is great.. Every day I get the thumb up sign.
There is still a few problem My AC is not fix yet.. I just got all the part from Carey last week .
I did no know that it was such a problem to get part for these car. As they are made from different car part There is no catalog that I could go and Buy part .
The car Itself is great...... It leak if it rain. Any Idea,how could I help the leaking inside the car? Would a bigger rubber strip in the top help ? The subi engine is fast . However it burn a lot of oil..... Any one know why? I just change the oil to a thicker oil to see if it help. ?????. I miss power brake and I miss the window . The rest of the car is fine
These month my wife and me are going to venture to the Fl keys . I will post some picture .

It always takes a while to sort out all of the issues with these cars as they are not built on robotized assembly lines. Instead, they have small groups of people building them by hand. As for the leaks, yes there are things that you can do. Rather than go into them in detail here, I suggest that you meet us at one of the gatherings and we can discuss at length.

I believe that you said you planned to join us in Asheville in September. There are only two or three rooms left in our block, so I suggest that you make reservations in the next week or so if you are coming. I can show you some of the things I did on my car to keep the rain out.

Yes, the AC compressor was a nightmare. None of us here realized that it was a Japan only compressor. I think I now own one of every version Suby Ac compressor on the planet. Fortunately I found a guy that rebuilds compressors and recognized your compressor as one that was also used on a few other foreign cars, with a different clutch, so he was able to replace the body mid section and rebuild the clutch. This has also led us to standardize our AC components for the Suby cars. At least now we can get the compressor back on the motor and see if it was just a compressor failure or something else in the system that caused the compressor to fail...

On your top, a thicker OPEN cell gasket certainly can help , BUT I'd look at the angle of the header bow first. If any of the 6mm header bolts in the ends come loose then the header bow can rotate back, essentially changing the arch and making it not mate up evenly. This will show especially in the center of the top bow and have a gap there. Rotate it forward and it will close up.
Carey's last comment on the top header is definitely one to check. I found that mine had loosened and shifted. While it's nearly impossible to get rid of all of the leaks, having the header properly adjusted will go a long way toward doing that.

Peter - Are you still coming to the Mountain Madness gathering in September? If so, I can take a look at some of the simpler things while you're there.
