My Beck Speedster

I bought a used Beck Speedster about a year ago. I love everything about it (well, except for the ear-splitting loudness and I got a new muffler that solved that problem). It handles beautifully and is great looking. I enjoy it more than any other car I've ever owned. Everything works well and it is so much fun to drive.

Ronald - Welcome to the Madness! Glad to hear you're enjoying your car. You should join our SoCal cruises this summer. You could hook up with us in Malibu for one of our cruises through Mulholland or up to Channel islands. Keep an eye on the "Events" thread on this site.

Jim, thanks for your reply. I will watch for events as I'd love to talk with other Speedster owners. Mailibu may be a little far to drive to, however. San Luis Obispo might be do-able.

Ronald.....any trouble registering it in CA? Were you the first owner or did it have CA registration when you bought it? It is registered as a "special construction" or as a Beck?

There is one for sale now in the classifieds in the Pacific NW, and some discussion on CA registration of a Beck.

Ronald - check out the 'Events' thread for Tour D'Hoe. Its a cruise around Lake Tahoe. You could hook up with the NorCal SOCers on that event! A group of SOCers who love and drive their Speedsters/Roadsters!

Arthur, I didn't have any problems with the California DMV. They regestered my Beck as a Chamonix, since that's how the Hines listed it on the bill of sale. They (the DMV) also listed the model year (and first year sold) as 1957. Of course, it's a replica of the 1957 Speedster, built in 2006. No "requests" from the DMV for a smog test, yet.
