Well, it's almost ready for eBay.  It's a regular body Vintage Speedster with a 1915cc engine and a Freeway Flyer transmission, with 16,000 miles.  It goes in for alignment on Tuesday and a cut and polish on Wednesday.  Then I take the pictures, do the drive video and post it on eBay.  It's a very sweet ride!

You might think twice about silver.  My car is silver and the metallic paint is impossible to touch up.  I plan to have Carey repaint my car in non-metallic slate gray this upcoming winter.  That's the color that I wanted originally, anyway.  It's a little excessive after only about 9200 miles, so far, but due to some customization that I had done and general wear, I've decided just to go for it.

Actually, I don't need to suck anyone in to buying any of my cars.  They have all been really nice and reasonably priced and I just do a good job of presenting them with high quality pictures and video, which is why they always sell.

I have not made up my mind yet, but I really am serious about selling my widebody.  I get the black car back from detailer today and I'll be making up my mind over the next few days.

One of my reasons is that I can do a bunch of things to it I probably can't do on the widebody or that probably would not look right on the widebody.  One of those things is putting Fuchs on.  A black car with polished Fuchs with black centers looks so awesome!  Another idea is Wide Fives with extended wheel studs like I did on the Silver Outlaw.  I could also remove the bumpers, mount fog lights on the body and put hood straps on it.  Also, the ride in a regular body Speedster is totally different than in a widebody.

So, you can see, I've given alot of thought to it and I am very seriously considering it.

I know what you mean about the ride, Troy.  While I haven't ridden in a superwide like yours, I have heard they can be pretty harsh.  I have had several folks comment on how smooth my Speedster rides.

I AGREE MY COUPE WAS A MUCH BETTER RIDE THAN MY WIDE BODY SPEEDSTER

Troy...  I'm not familiar with the black tub you have.....   Is it swing axle or IRS???

The reason I ask, and you probably already know, an IRS unit has "Wide Tread" and becomes a possible problem in selecting rim width / offset, and tire type/ size...

I had this problem on the latest build here....

Sounds like a great project....   Keep her between the white lines...  8-)

leon what is the color of your car. I really like it

Hey Troy,

I used the flat 4 from CIP1, as mentioned before the regular wide body with the IRS can have a very tight space between the tires to the body and my coupe is no different. I selected the flat 4 because it has the most backspace of what they carry. I got the 5.5" width (I think, as I am not in town to look at my car)

The black regular body Vintage I currently am working on is a swing axle.  The chrome Empi wheels are very nice, but they are not available with the painted inside area and painting the inside area is VERY critical to how they look.  These wheels are painted correctly!  I think these are the same wheels that I saw on Tom Buchanan's car at Carlisle and they were perfect.

The bottom line is that I would really like to hear from someone who has put these on a Vintage swing axle car and knowsfor a fact that all you need to do is drill the rotors and drums.

Mango.

I never answered your question about becoming a dealer.  It turns out that if you register the car in your name, which I always do, you can buy and sell as many cars as you like without becoming a dealer.  Becoming a dealer allows you to avoid paying sales tax and you don't have to transfer the title from the person you got it from into your name.  I want it in my name and I pay the sales tax, because it gives the eBay buyer some security that they are getting the car from the actual owner, who's name is on the pink slip.  I would be very leary of buying a car (and wiring $20,000+ into their checking account) from someone I didn't know, who's name was not on the pink slip, especially if I was buying it on line without ever actually seeing it in person!

I've never been a big fan of the widebodied speedsters but I did think that GERD'S blue one was gorgeous. The best looking phat-boy I've seen.

Troy, I think you fit the standard speedster. Your persona is more conservative and classic.

Vince, on the other hand...

I suggest you sell your wide body and the Black 'n Tan and buy British Boy's black IM, Dale Bate's old car.

That is the best-looking black w/Fuchs speedster, period.

And it has authentic, 5.5 Fuchs on it!

LOL.  Really Terry?  Is that how I come off?  I think it's probably because I am a little on the quite side, but in reality I am totally the opposite. Still waters run deep!

As far as selling both of them and buying an IM.  That would only happen if I had unlimited $$$$s.  No question, IMs are VERY nice cars, but in my opinion the incremental difference in quality between a nice Vintage and an IM is not worth the huge difference in price.

Well I made up my mind and for now, I am keeping my widebody, but not because I don't really love this black Speedster.  I'm buying a new home and I need the cash for the down payment.  Since the black car is ready to go and it would take me several more weeks to prepare the widebody, I'll hang on to my widebody for now, but it will prbably happen sooner or later.

Here is the link to the black Speedster eBay auction and a few pictures.
