to this... its been a long haul.. started this madness back in 2008, with a mold I found locally, laid up two bodies then came across an Intermeccanica that had a bit of a mishap. a we bit of grafting, a whole lot of sanding and I am very pleased with my results. There is a car show towards the end of August that I hope will be my maiden voyage.

Alan seems to see everything in "this whole build thing".

Having met and chatted with him a lot and seen all of his posts on here, I share some of his feelings, like; 'It's more fun building than driving these things'. That's why he never keeps one for long, even if he likes it - he likes building it more, and gets bored just driving it around. Of course, having a great excess of nervous energy and constantly needing something to do (along with not liking much of what's on TV these days) might have something to do with it, too.

Sure, it's nice to have the movement and noise and wind in ( what's left of ) your hair, but the challenge of scrounging/buying parts, overcoming the challenges of assembling everything AND making the finished product classy and unique in a good (or great) way is way more fulfilling than driving one. I've had my finished car out maybe 10 times in the past two years, while I've been spending a lot of hours finishing another one. I do it because I can and love making a unique finished product. There are a lot of people on here like that, those who love putting things together and have the ability to do it well. There are also a lot of people on here who excel at other things and just like to drive.

And of course, there's Vince, who can't decide which car he wants to drive that day (is it a red, or burgundy, or silver kind of day?)

Some people live to drive, some people live to build. Whatever spins your wheels...
Thanks for all your encouragement everyone, its much appreciated.

Gord, I must admit that the thrill of the chase , in finding all the bits and pieces was a great way to pass the time through the rainy days, and I may attempt another project down the road, although I dont think I will take on a project that requires as much body work. I am looking forward to firing up the engine for the first time. I had to start from scratch with that as well.
RE Gordon's comments above. I am lucky enough to enjoy both the building and the driving. Especially when I build a mechanical/electrical solution to a problem and it works, and works well. Some guys do enjoy both, but I do understand those that prefer building OR driving.

Good job, Simon!
