Mexico? Too many nice cars. Looks like Los Angeles to me.
Gentlemen,
This is a replica 1957 356A coupe. It has a custom chassis that accepts contemporary ACVW suspension mechanicals,IRS.
June of 2004 I made a trip south of the border for a look-see and discovered the coupe molds. To my knowledge, this is only their 2nd use and were made some 20+ years ago but were well protected. I've been sitting on this for over 10 months, it ain't been EZ.

it takes a 20 or a line of something to get them to talk to you in Iowa
Fred, I think we'd all like to have something for a "rainy day". Looking forward to your future posts.
Are you planning to have a roll cage, a reinforced roof; or are you going to drive it as if it was a ragtop? And are you going for air conditioning?

Ha, thanks Steve O', Iowa's a little behind--in my neck of the woods it usually takes a bit more!
Sorry for the abrupt end to my earlier post- it's been a rough day and my computer time limited. I've been running since 0500, have company and then kids doing homework on the computer! At least I was able to offer a little "bump n grind" to get you through the day!
Yes John Leader it is of Autos Classicos/Premier Classics make, they've got plenty of plastic car experience-over 20 years. Raul had to find and borrow another original and redo the dash molds which is just part of the reason it's taken the better part of a year to finish. Should be going to the paint booth this week. It has been very difficult to refrain from posting but I have slipped a small one in once or twice. Thanks to those enthusiasts that have held it close to their chests until it was closer to being ready--Karl, Jim, Herb and others.
I hope to have a reliable, airconditioned daily driver, part outlaw and relatively inexpensive to maintain. Oh yeah-NO RUST!

"relatively inexpensive to maintain"
Yes, but all that gasket/window trim/threshold plates/strikers and hinges/A Coupe only rear grill/latches/gas tank/356 Coupe stuff in general isn't cheap or reproduced as readily as the Speedster hardware.
I have my own special "project" and would be VERY interested in where you are going to get all the "smalls" to complete your coupe . . .
Got a good cheap source?
Share the wealth . . .
Super Coupe! I'm seeing the start of the next chapter in Outlaws beginning right in front of me ! ! ! !

TC, again part of the reason it's taken so long to finish, Many items had to re-sourced since he last made a coupe some 5 years ago. I've left most of the details to Raul--I consider this to be a prototype, I like what I've seen so far but as far as absolute accuracy? It is very much an outlaw coupe! You gotta start somewhere.

Wow.
So is it correct to think that these are now available for purchase by others from Raul?
This body with the suby drive train would be amazing :)

Dude, I thought you were partial to the Cs, ;>)

But with any service the mid engine Suby may be a bit confined under the coupes roof.

Specialty tell me they have also designed things to be dropped down so it can be serviced from underneath... Not sure what the status of that work is, given the evolution of the engine cover access model.

Consider the Boxter, it has access panels for some routine servicing.
Would have to drop the engine for only the most serious problems.

Fred, is it Raul's intention to start offering the coupe as a regular product or is this a special one-off for you?
-Jeff
Update - I just saw the note on JPS doing a coupe too. I have a feeling all the bodies will come from the same place given the reemergence of the molds?
Not much for details but: www.jps-motorsports.com

To be sure, this car will be the first in a series. At first he didn't really want to make a coupe-the molds needed some work and they are more involved than speedsters to make- but I convinced him that others would be interested.
When I saw that the JPS offering would be an "A" I had the same impression. I had heard that some US speedster manufacturers get their glaswork done south of the border.
