David - n'ah it's not Swedish - i had it custom made.

it's meant to be viewed in the rear view mirror

yes - i am running two ignition systems. the wasted spark EDIS megajolt is only partially being used right now (not sparking my plugs, but running a bunch of other stuff including my MAP / Crank sensor and shift lights)

i put the distributor in after my latest engine build to take a variable out of the break-in equation. i just haven't switched it back cause i am doing these more fun projects (and it runs awesome!)
did a last 150 grit sand after one final (and minor) filler round.

primed it and sanded the primer with 200 grit - ready for paint.

paint mix for those interested:

first coat in my awesome paint booth (hey - it gets the job done)

bottom first on industry gold-standard yoghurt containers:

Then a quick flip to keep a wet edge on the paint to finish off coat 1:

it's a very nice bright silver. this picture doesn't really do it justice. i had the garage door opened, with full carbon respirator and eye protection on and i wanted out. this silver has flake in it (very very small ones - not the huge lowrider-style ones).
wow - i'm glad i bought extra wood. i routed the tops today with a subtle round ending (looks very nice), but the last piece caught the grain and chewed it up - so i had to make another.

i'm putting the final coat of colour paint on metal tonight, then clear enamel

i drilled mounting holes in the metal tabs and counter sunk some room for the screw heads.

as for the slats - i am going to stain them. i already have the stain and it is a nice gold colour
my wife came into the garage and said "those look way better than i thought they would. i didnt think the metal part would look that good when i saw it a few days ago."

ummm, thanks i guess :) (it sounded like she though it would look stoopid)

anyway

i finished sanding the slats and put on three coats of stain (western cedar - gold)

here is the close-up of the routing.
well - it's done and i am happy with how it turned out.

The painters tape is holding my led brake light in position while the silicon dries. i re-angled it to get better light angle for people behind me. not that it matters cause i covered 1/2 of it up with a luggage rack. LOL

to not worry about vibrations and scratching the $$$ grill:

(messy garage, i know)

I promptly covered it all back up so i don't get distracted and can focus on my next project - the convertible scissor frame

stay tuned for a new thread :)
