I think it’s slightly louder on acceleration than my 2054 AC engine with an A1 sidewinder, but much quieter at idle and cruising.
I think it’s the perfect setup.

The exhaust through the uprisers is my favourite if you have towel bars.
@Jimmy V. Thanks and you should be excited to have them do the work. Here are some pics of the underside. It is a custom ceramic exhaust, I wanted to have the pea shooters and Mike welded this up. The video should give you an idea of the sound, it idles around 750. As for transaxle gearing it is Carey's standard 4 speed (Rancho Pro).
Thanks Joe. That is very helpful. I like what I've heard about Carey and Special Edition and the professionalism of their work. My Speedster has been down without an engine since Feb. It was a hard choice when deciding to wait 6 months to have this done but I know it is going to be the right way to go. I am so done spending money tricking out Air cooled beetle engines and always being disappointed in the end. I think the Subaru engine will give me the Power I have been looking and the reliability I never found with antique technology. I know their are many that have CB engines and get good results but I am a worrier and the over heating the engine issue drives me crazy. I would lose my mind if a $6k air cooled engine burned up or had a cam get wiped out. Oh , I forgot that has happened to me. LOL... Good Day all.
It is interesting how Beck buids the subie exhaust it is very efficient and equal pipes on both side affects the sound differently that unequal headers then they go straight through to the exit.
It looks like the difference is essentially the muffler size ? and it's stuffing for lack of a better word.
Here is my IM, with a different approach, with unequal headers also going through the overiders.
I vote for one large center mounted oval stainless steel one!
I like the aluminum oil pan on both cars. Nice!

All three. These are pretty much standard on Suby builds. https://smallcar.com/vanagon/s...luminum-oil-pan.html
Aha, was wondering if they came from there. Thanks Tom.
