My fiance Thuan and I just returned from our 777 mile trip up Hwy 1, from Morro Bay to Stinson Beach, just north of San Francisco. We had a wonderful time and I've attached a few pictures to this post and there are a few more at my web site http://speedster.hopto.org
Thuan flew in from Calgary Canada on Thursday night, but her luggage didn't arrive until Friday morning. So my plans to leave Fresno early and beat the heat were dashed and we finally got out of town a little after noon. As it turned out, not only was it 107 degrees in Fresno, but it was a record breaking all time high of 111 degrees in Morro Bay!!! But, have no fear, my 1915cc "mexicrate" didn't even flinch. The guage got up to a little over 3/4 briefly, but for the most part stayed right at the half way mark. Also, it didn't use a drop of oil...I thought these things all burned oil??? I'm knocking on wood!
We took in all the usual stops along the way, Hearst Castle, 17 Mile Drive in Carmel and we had the top down all the way, except for a short stretch between Big Sur and Monterey, where we encountered a very brief thunder shower. Otherwise, the trip was flawless, with the usual thumbs up, horn honks, questions at the gas stations, cell phone pictures from the window, pointing with a "look at that" expression, offers to trade their Harley, etc. etc.. Can't wait for the next leg of the trip from San Francisco to the Oregon border later this summer.
