The end of a long journey...

Henry has taken the final photos of the car (but he wasn't happy with the light this time of the year in Vancouver), and will be shipping the car this week.  It's been quite a project for me, from initial discussions to finished car, but worth it all.  Numerous emails, phone discussions, and a couple of meetings since Carlisle 2014 when I started to think about this possibility.

I feel I have gotten the car I wanted (well, the wheels may go), and I'm going to do my best to drive it as much as I can.

Thanks to those of you who have been following the build, and giving encouragement and advice.  It has been much appreciated.  There were times when I may have doubted doing this, and some decisions were overwhelming, but I'm a happy man today with a unique, bespoke vehicle (I love that word...)

We'll see some of you at Carlisle.

Lane, not so much the money; the hard part is finding a complete set.   Get these and be done with it. http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/b...c-build-alloy-wheel/

I really wanted this wheel back in 2010 when I had my IM restored, but the cost, when the shipping was factored in, was too steep for me.

Unlike the Porsche 944 spares that Stan really likes (me too), the Image wheel is really heavy.  I picked up a similar Image wheel while at Henry's, and was surprised at how heavy it was.

The good thing about the Image wheel (besides its good looks) is you can order any offset and width you want, which is very important when choosing a wheel for our cars.

I am always amazed when I lift an original, forged, Fuchs wheel.  Mine are 16 X 7 and are really big when they're sitting there, so you expect some heft when you lift them but, Surprise!  They seem almost feather-light for the size and WAY less than your mind expects.

So, to Bob, I would ask: "What type of a feeling do you want when you look at your car?"  It is a mild outlaw with may custom touches.  Do you want it to be a sleeper and look more like a classically endowed car with more-or-less "normal" trim so that people will look for a few seconds and think, 'Nice old Porsche'?  If so, go with the 964 rims.

Or do you want something that looks "Bad-Ass" and says, by just sitting there, "Get Outa My Way, Man!"  If that's the ticket, then that opens up a LOT of different looks.  Either old-style Fuchs (You can never go wrong with Fuchs 5-spokes) or the 944 spares-look are great options.  If you like a bit more Bling, something like this:

Try different rims with Photoshop, if you can.  How it looks sitting still will be more important than when under way.

Here's the link to that chromed rim:

Cool... but not as cool as the spares. Just my opinion. When a man arrives at the level you gentlemen have attained (what with your turbos and 6 cylinders and what-not), sometimes only the best will do.

I'm sure a man of wealth and contacts like my friend Bob can come up with whatever it takes to get a set, then send them off to be widened. If the Emorys can afford to do it, so can Bob!

It's only money...
