Really sweet, Phil.

Is this car about done? It seems like he was "almost there" 3 months ago.

I'm going to LA to see it in a couple weeks.  I really hope its done by then.  Its amazing the improvement in 15 years since my last spyder.  Much more attention to detail.  At first I think Greg was just trying to make sure the car drove well.  Now he's really focused on details and aesthetics.

Hope tou make it to Carlisle in that spyder next year and me too with my roadster

My request off for the week of Carlisle has already been rejected by my group.  Going to see if I can at least get Friday off.

Put in for the last week in Sept. We're going to attack the Dragon/Skyway/Rattler/et al again.

I will not miss the Smokies trip.  I'll quit before I miss that ride.

I guess Greg Leach doesn’t watch college football.

I'm guessing Auburn fans wish they didn't either. Watching, I can't help but think if 'bama had a shot, they'd cut through the rest of the D1 field like a hot knife through butter right now. They're angry.

... which begs the question: it's 2017, WHY are we still speculating what might happen if a one loss team were allowed to play against other one loss teams in a playoff situation? The only scenario where 'bama gets the chance is by Ohio State beating Wisconsin, which would shut out the Big 10 from the final 4. No PAC10 team, and no Big 10 school. This is lunacy.

Give me an 8 team playoff. This is nuts.

Yes I think that Bama should get in if Ohio State beats Wisconsin which will likely happen.  Clemson will likely beat the crap out of Miami.

Personally I think it should remain a 4 team playoff.  13 or 14 games is enough for college players.  When does it end?  If it goes to an 8 team playoff people will quickly demand a 16 team playoff.  The only thing that matters is determining the #1 team.  And I personally think that a 4 team playoff is sufficient to determine the best team.

ABSOLUTELY

I'll agree to disagree.

In no other sport do we decide that 100+ teams playing 12 or 13 games is sufficient to guess who might be the top 2. There are 130 schools in D1A. One more round to determine a legitimate national champion is not too much to ask. Nobody alive thinks a 64+ team B-ball tournament is a bad idea. I'm at a complete loss why football is sooooo much different.

Perhaps a 12 team playoff, three rounds with the top 4 seeds getting a bye first round. I keep hearing about the minimal separation between 5 and 9. I'd contend that there's practically no separation between 1 and 9 this year.

I love the game, but it's all about money. More games means more money. Better regional representation means more money. Better conference representation means small conferences stay relevant (I'm looking at you, 12-0 UCF), which is good for the game. Nobody on God's green earth cares about an SCC vs SCC national title game if there wasn't a legitimate playoff to get to that point.

Yes its all about money.  And these kids earn nothing.  I already feel that these kids are being exploited.  They risk injury every week for just a small chance of making the NFL.  Every game there are at least 2 to 3 injuries some serious.  Ohio State's quarterback was playing after knee surgery last Sunday.  Auburn's running back was playing after dislocating his shoulder last Saturday.  Sure NCAA basketball has a 64+ team tournament to determine a national champion but injuries are much less common in basketball.  Heck collegiate basketball players get to go pro after 1 season.  Football players have to play 3 grueling years before they can go pro.  The NCAA claims that football players need to physically mature before they can enter the NFL.  How convenient.

I love college football.  My favorite sport to watch by far.  I don't even watch the NFL.  Part of the reason is because they aren't being paid and many are playing just because they love to play.  Look at Baker Mayfield, the quarterback for Oklahoma.  He's going to win the Heisman trophy this year and will likely be a first round pick in the NFL.  But this kid would play even if there were no NFL.  Every touchdown he runs with his team mates doing windmills with his arms acting like a child.  I love it.  I even like it when he grabbed his crotch to mock the Kansas players after they wouldn't shake his hand at coin toss.

I just think that there has to be a limit to the injuries and number of games.  Now the first round of the playoff is played during the bowls and the championship game is played a week later so only 2 teams have to play an additional game more than other bowl eligible teams.  And I personally think its enough.  Enough money for the colleges and TV revenue, enough risk of injury and enough exploitation.

i COULD have written the above...I get up at 3:30 am on Saturday mornings as GAME DAY starts at 4 am in Hawaii and glued until the last PAC 12 game over. And you are absolutely right about Mayfield.....for those captains to NOT shake his hand before the game, they deserved CROTCH in the face. Most of the kids(almost all) get nothing(LOL)....as a couple of rubles do find their way but I'm okay with that too as most of them are poorer than dirt. I'll be sad when CFP ends and hopefully DABO is not holding the prize this time. Would love to see SABAN vs SMART(GA.) and all that bad blood between..

I'd feel bad clogging up this thread with an irrelevant rabbit-trail, but it's Phil's to start with so...

If we won't ask 20 year old kids from 4 to 8 schools to play an extra game to give them a chance at a national title out of fear of injury, aren't we really saying that the whole system is a farce? We feel good and justified with 12 games played for free, but 14 is just asking too much? This reminds me a the old Roman system of justice-- 40 lashes satisfied any punishment, so everybody was flogged 39 times with a whip embedded with nails and glass.

You pointed out J.T. Barrett playing on a 6-day old surgery-- I suspect he did that because he wanted a shot to be able to continue to play. I would suspect that if you asked ANY of the players on on the teams ranked 5- 12 if they would play another game for the right to a national championship, they would all want to keep playing.

A system that deliberately keeps kids at home, who want to keep playing, because we feel guilty that we aren't paying them is ludicrous. Nobody is asking the players what they want, because we all assume we know what's best for them That's paternalistic and comes dangerously close to a slave-owner mentality.

PS: Nobody likes one-and-done in college hoops, and my guess is that it will change sometime soon.

Where do you draw the line? 8,10,12, 14 games? I certainly don't know BUT they are still students(?) and supposed to go to class....time to study, heal, recover? Many of them don't go to class or are tutored or? Ultimately someone, or some governing body must make a determination about all of the above discussion.....many of these kids have football as their only shot out of a bad cycle. No easy solutions to  challenging questions....
