65 Sunbeam Tiger, 260 ford small block, ford top loader, ford rearend. Carroll Shelby was the one that ramrodded this car from 64-67, same time he was selling the cobras.
Chrysler bought the company in 67 and didnt like selling ford motors at a chrysler dealership so poof, they are gone.
The tiger is often called the poor man's cobra.

Very, very cool! Thanks for the history lesson, too. I had no idea.
Very Cool, Bob!
Nice! And a whole lot more civilized than a Cobra.
Congratulations! Growing up in OC Ca. in the sixties, that car was a sleeper when it first showed up, then after about 6 months they became known as giant killers. Great car!
I think Maxwell Smart from "Get Smart" drove one before the Karmann Ghia. Maybe it was an Alpine not a tiger, great looking car Bob, does it handle good with the V8?
Andy Rooney (60 Minutes TV show) has one. Bought it new.
Maxwell Smart drove one in the TV series, and Don Adams drove one for years. I met the current owner of Don Adam's car in Escondido at the Fri night crusin' Grand show. Nice car Bob!
I don't know what I was thinking in '67 when I bought a new Opel 1.1L Kadette Rallye for $1800 - could have had a Tiger for $2300! Guess insurance for an under 25 year old male in NJ might had been a tad higher. Awesum car! Was hood scoop only on '67 model?
I remember the Swabies down at the Pike drivin' those things!
hood scoop was a LAT option, looks awsome, mine just had louvres. plain hood looks wimpy.
I've seen a couple Tigers at Cruzin Grand in Esco. Will, do you go there very much?Did you see the silver 1948? speedster replica there?
i dont think it is a stock 260, probably a 289 or 302 with a wild cam in it.

Don't get any idea's Bob I like your choice for your new ride Roland
Ernie, I THOUGHT I saw you coming out of one of the tattoo parlors by the Pike, LB (back in the day)! Man, was it that long ago?
Back in '73 I had a '67 Sunbeam Alpine (British Racing Green, of course). What a POS that vehicle was!! Sh*t would fall off as I was driving it (windshield wiper blades, rear-view mirror, spoke wheels would never keep true, etc.). It was fun though. Sold it for $500 and bought my first 911 ('68 911S Targa). Waaaaay more fun!
Nice car, Bob! A real straight-line rocket! Have fun, be safe!
Peace - Out!

Whoa, your car is just TERRIFIC ! ! ! !
I've only seen five genuine Cobras and they were the original fender-style early versions, didn't appeal to me much at all, neither did that weird little ACE that they began as. Around here all we have are fiberglass fakes, mostly due to the Factory Five factory being so close by.
Seriously, a Tiger is WAY cooler than a Cobra, real or otherwise ! !
COOL RIDE-

So, it's for sale? I totally want that car.
Had those same wheels on my British Racing Green Triumph TR250 in 1972. Love the look of those wheels with that color. I am envious!

Max Smart in the TV show did drive HIS Red Tiger.
I have always had a soft spot for a Tiger. Ond day I will have options......shhhhh don't tell Betsy.
