Just got off the phone to the car transport people, and my 1999 Red Roadster should be arriving from Vancouver on Thursday, the 21st.

Coincidentally, that is my wedding anniversary (can't remember which one, though). What say I tell the wife this is her anniversary present? Think that will work????

Oh, well, she likes the car anyway. And if I can't remember which anniversary this is, she will certainly like the car more than me.

"Train Derailment"

Bad news:

How would you like to hear those two words when you call up to find out when your new car will be delivered to you? That's what I heard this morning when I called the car transport company.

Good news:

It was then explained to me that it was the train ahead of the one carrying my car. I then was able to speak again...

So, looks like my car won't be delivered until Monday or Tuesday of next week. Christmas morning used to come faster when I was a kid, than this car :-)

Thanks.

The seats are Recaro. I was not too sure at first if I would like them, as I wanted the original looking seats. Henry at IM supplied the leather to Recaro to upholster the seats to match the rest of the interior, and they are very comfortable.

As for the car being 'locked up', the original owner had a spot of trouble and the car was held for a year or two by the government until the issue was resolved (this is the story as I understand it). I guess that helps to explain the low mileage for a four year old car (3,000 miles).

Now, to wait until it arrives....

For some reason, I can't load pictures to this site. I'll bug Ron Leonard again and ask him to post some more for me ;-)

No need to worry, Ron. When I'm on the road with my keyboard in my hands, you'll safely be thousands of miles away.

Geez, how do I hold a keyboard, not spill my drinks (no cupholders in this car!) use the remote (!!?) for the radio/CD that comes with this car, and entertain my celebrity Right Seater all at the same time?

'Tis a far cry from my old Bugeye Sprite, beer bottles, a 45 rpm record player and my high school sweetheart.

Does life get better as we age, or do we just do the same old things in a different way?

That's great Bob. I'm glad to hear it arrived safely.

The toughest part is the first time you park it in a parking lot and walk away to somewhere where you can't keep an eye on it.

I just got back from a milk run to the grocery store. I come out of the store and there was a larger crowd than usual, probably about 8 people. As I approach the car and reach for the door handle everyone steps back a bit embarrassed, and one guy sticks his head up high and in an authoritative voice says "What year Jag is it?". I managed not to burst out laughing, and just quietly said, "It's a Porsche". He as more than a little embarrassed. Soon you'll have stories like this too. Enjoy it to the fullest.
