Roland,
Just assure you get a wire transfer of the proper funds into your bank account, prior to releasing the car. Once that is verified by your banker, the risk medicine ball has just been passed to the gentleman in France.

I have been searching www.yahoo.fr and cannot find any club. 356 Registry had a site but it doesn't open. I guess it's down. I went to the PGO.fr site and for some reason they only talk about the philosophy and do not show the car. You may want to email them at PGO.
Or this guy, but no site.

I bought my car in the US and I live in Spain. I guess it is just a matter of being too trusted. I sent the money to a guy I never met, and the only thing I had was his name and telephone number.
He has more things that could go wrong that you. You won't send the car until you receive the money and you clear it in the bank, but he will be having no money and no car for months and believe during those months he will be meeting lots of people that will laugh in his face telling him how crazy he is for buying a car he hasn't seen to a guy he doesn't even know.
I can tell you first hand... At the end everything worked out really good for me, I am delighted with the car and I have received offers that double the costs once the car is here, but those months were unforgeteable... But we are all nice people driving nice cars...

Well, i am a believer so far, he made the deposit of $1000, so i retract my previous statement of being worried. I know but its hard to trust the days.
I stand corrected

My bank called me and they received the completed bank transfer from France, and its the full amount
Now the car must go on a long trip overseas
I am happily surprised that this transaction completed without any hitches
Makes me appreciate the French even more now
