67's have longer axles (5/8"?) than '66 and older, and '68 swingaxles are 1 1/8" longer than '67.
PS- it might be the other way around- 67 1 1/8" longer than 67 and '68 5/8" longer- more later...

I know that, now :~)
Good to know. I'd thought all swing axles were a touch shorter than all IRS.
13 weeks from a clapped out swing axle chassis to a running 98% done speedster..... Paul's speedster rolled out of my home shop today for a few photos! Starts runs and drives..need to bleed the brakes, adjust the steering stops, finish the exhaust tips on the header ..Need to put a few miles sorting miles on it and it will be on it's way to Utah soon ~
...after a few photos...
where are they?!!
You gonna have Max Zimmer drop by to bless it before you send it to Utah??
I can send down some beer from the Worcester Abby to bless it with!
hey, you swiped my steering wheel!
looks great Paul/Allen!
and...is that a 356 steering column?
I'm so excited I can't stand it. Alan went above & beyond my expectations!!!! It a First class A+ totally knock your socks off speedster !!!!
And it's mine.
Early Beetle column with ivory painted signal switch.
Nice looking car, Alan and Paul. What seats do we see in there ? Cheers...
David, the seats are VS "comfort seats" as they call them.
Alan: That is a fantastic looking Speedster! I love the original details that Paul decided on, and that that you worked into the build. The Speedster world is going to miss you (that is, if you really do hang up your work gloves).
You da man!
Alan really is and will go down as one of thee best in his craft !! One of the greats!!
And he's one heck of a nice guy!!
Really, really nice! Another great speedster by Alan.
A classic, absolutely fabulous! Enjoy....
Alan---you never seem to miss on producing a beautiful Speedster that is more gorgeous than the last one. Congrats---this jet black one is another home run!
You have some mad skilz, my friend!
I'm envious. Beautiful!
Today was a milestone, I drove Paul's car 7km it's totally fun to drive! It was an enjoyable build, Paul is a pleasure to build for. Waiting on one item from VS and have a few minor items to button up. Then I'll move onto the wildly powered Outlaw Project #43 that has been waiting patiently. Randy my paint guy was here today, I now have a good idea where I am probably going with the Outlaw's color, interior, dash, shifter etc.
Here is #42. Almost done
.....The trailer is a $300 wrecked car dolly that I stretched and made a deck for it, Speedster specific. Total investment is $800 .
