i met tom, robin, and the crew in southern california. the phantom was being built, and i may have seen bits of the 904, but i decided to keep things a secret at the time. speedsters were being repaired - even speedsters bought and built elsewhere. tom was taking car of his wife's car, too. that raised my regard for him to a very high level.. there was a spyder there, and several cars were being built. ...these folks love all things vw, but i don't know if they love vw things.
tom's knowledge and intelligence go beyond anything i am used to. he shared some good stories, showed me the right kind of fuel line, and gave me some good advice, including the application of extra car wax on the exterior to protect the finish.
these fine folks were doing the work so well, that they made it look easy.
these folks are very smart, yet they did not make me feel dumb, despite all of the questions and stories i threw their way.... although i was not buying anything that day, they treated me as though i was a loyal customer.
