Really guys I do appreciate all your input, and I mean all. I recognize that Martin knows his VW's so when he talks I listen. Jimbo; thank you also for standing by me!

With regards to the ditributor I have an SVDA recurved by Aircooled.net for use with dual Dellorto/Webers; the timing as per Aircooled.net's instructions is:

A) 28-30 Total Advance with hose disconneted @ 3,500 rpms.
B) 38-45 Total Advance with hose connected @ 3,500 rpms.

I confess I haven't used the strobe light on it but I will; will also check the dwell angle (although I set the point gap at .016" and that should be fairly close to the 50 degrees plus or minus 2 factory spec).
Martin - no offense intended, my friend! I readily admit that I'm not the sharpest tool in the SOC tool shed. Like I've said many times before, and as our colleague Jim W. alluded to, I learn something new and useful everytime I log onto this site. And SOMETIMES I even learn from something Vince posted (what are the odds?).

I think I just had a bad day with employees using incomplete (and erroneous) information to second guess some of my recent business decisions. You know how it is, EVERYBODY's an expert!

Anyway, I've added your tech tips to my Tech File along with all the other cool stuff I've learned on this site.

Ricardo, hope you get a clean-bill-of-health on your Speedy and get that bad-boy back on the road real soon!

Peace - Out!

(Jim W. - thanks for the reality check!)

(Vince - nice car!)
