Stopped by a small car gathering today in Napa Valley. It was on the grounds of Inglenook Winery. The show capped off a weekend of events that started with a dinner at Caymus on Friday and a drive yesterday.
Our road rally is not affiliated with this, but definitely wanted to check it out.
They were able to bring some great cars together.
The yellow Cord is owned by Francis Ford Coppola.

The yellow race car next to the Birdcage Maserati is a King Cobra. Until now, I never knew this car existed. But apparently (8) King Cobras were made for the Shelby Racing Team. IIRC, this one was the last produced.

The light teal car I’ve never heard. I believe only single digits were produced of that car as well.

Always fun being up at Napa (Raymond Winery) or (Screaming Eagle if you know someone) - Golf, Wine and Car shows in California is a must! It's a shame the politicians and one sided politics have chased so many good companies and people out...

I like cars and coffee. But I’m done with car shows. Last car show my Spyder was in I had to drive past the Porsches and park with the antique tractors and ice cream trucks. One guy was applaud that my Spyder had a couple of Porsche badges on it. He said that the builder wasn’t allowed to put the crest on it. I told him that I could do whatever I wanted to it. It’s my car.

Someone delete their post about the teal Turner?  Indeed, it looks like an early Mk I* with weird tail lights. Most looked like this.

My brother had a Mk III with a Ford 105e in it. Earlier ones used Austin A 30s and 950cc motors. Very Successful SCCA racers. The service mgr of the SLC Porsche dealership ran a Mk III for many years and podiumed in the F Prod Runoffs like 5 years in a row.

He bought my brother’s but decided it was too nice to turn into a race car and DD for a few years before selling it on.

I’vealways had an affinity for Turners. Other than front vs mid-engined layout, they were very similar to a Beck Spyder; a simple tube frame attached to donor mechanicals under a fiberglass body for a lightweight sports car that outperformed the donor vehicle by a mile. You could even get them as a kit.

*Looks like the teal one was actually an earlier “950 Sports” model.

I’ve heard stories of D-bags like that, but fortunately never had the pleasure of experiencing that type of attitude.

  • Among the 17 states where population declined over the year, losses were greatest in New York (-1.58%), Illinois (-0.89%), Hawaii (-0.71%) and California (-0.66%). Losses in these states were driven by people moving away.

I think he was talking about the state of California in general. Probably more driven by the cost of living and taxes. Blue folks moving to red states.

My wife and I were at dinner last night and met a couple that was moving from Los Angeles to Charlottesville VA.  Just found Charlottesville on an internet search.  I always thought housing was expensive in Charlottesville.  Not to these folks.  Everything is relative I guess.

BTW Virginia has become a blue state in the last few years

I don’t know why this is yellow.

Ok, I read this 5? 6? I don't know how many times and couldn't make sense of it until I figured out the correction- now it makes a little more sense!

And Gordon- if you're going to use my name in print, it's Allen J. Blanchette- get it right!

And for those wondering just what an Allen J. Blanchette looks like, well, here you go!

Al's that handsome Canadian in Blue in the right foreground, next to my son, Chris, and across from Glen (?) and Mike McKelvey, then Alan Merklin and what looks like Lane Anderson's head behind Alan.  I could be wrong on the names, and we already know I can't spell 'em, so fill in as best you can.  This is from 2018, AFAIK.

You are correct @500 Phil - California has the beautiful coast, unbelievable mountains and the agricultural dirt that the world envys. The current governor (Pelosi's nephew) & his henchmen reroutes the water from the two states above to the sea instead of towards the aqueducts that were made for irrigating the farmers lands and small cities throughout California. You don't have to look any further than the electrical grids with numerous brown outs and preventable wildfires.

Without getting too political... Trump Vineyard is in Charlottesville - If you drink wine you will be very surprised with their products and pricing.

Lane, I believe that is Ron and Maddie Mullis. I could be wrong there.

Syl Mathis is standing off to the left. Next to him under the smiley face is Barbara, Kelly Frazer's lady.

For what it's worth, an egg sandwich on a hamburger(soft and mushy) bun never struck my fancy. I never got what the big deal was. But then again, nobody has good NY hard rolls, so I'm spoiled there.

What you’re describing sounds nothing like what I have for lunch at least 3x weekly.

2 eggs, scrambled with bacon bits, a single slice of American cheese on top, on lightly toasted sourdough bread. Sliced jalapeño or salt and pepper (depending on my mood) to finish.

Done right, it’s pretty good.

Oh man, you guys are killing me. There was a deli across the street from the Schubert Theater in NYC and I used to get an egg, sausage and cheese bagel before the matinee every Sunday I was working on Matilda.
I’d kill for one right now. No one out here can make a decent bagel. Not even Einstein's Bagels has a proper NYC deli bagel.

That reminds me when we moved from Toronto the market there was expensive and the market here was a lot lower, but our optics were stuck in Toronto so we paid more for our house ... duh, it happens.  Hopefully they won't get burned too bad.  Charlotsville is really nice.

It's still morning here in Australia, a bacon and egg roll would go down a treat

With all due respect, I don't think you should choose the leader of the world's most powerful country based on their production of a good value quaffable wine

We’ve been vacationing in Fiji the past few years. Our friends here think we’re nuts. Hawaii is so much closer (Hawaii 4.5 hours / Fiji 11 hours).
Based solely on geography the two are very similar. Situated roughly the same distance from the equator. They are both very beautiful.
The difference?  Fiji doesn’t have many Americans. It’s frequented more by Australians and folks from New Zealand.
It maintains a very low profile…and is extraordinarily safe.
But…one of the things that we love?  Not one local has ever engaged with us a conversation about politics. I really don’t know if they follow us that closely. I joke that they probably don’t know if we have a president, a dictator or a monarch. We never watch tv. Or see what’s going on in the world. It’s two weeks of unplugging from the western world and taking in natures beauty, not to mention some of the friendliest kindest people on earth.
It’s a real shame we let politics rip us apart. There are so many great qualities people have, but yet we let politics rise to the top.
The one thing I hate the most about living in the Bay Area is the narrow-mindedness. I often joke that the Bay Area is the most open minded place to live, as long as you think like the collective. We all have different backgrounds, different perspectives. It doesn’t make one more right or more wrong.
It is a real shame we can’t have a great discussion about hot button topics. With that, I agree with what’s been said. I rather not discuss politics. We’ll probably all be better off because of it.

Long live "Speech & Debate" from college days... You brought your information and your opponent brought theirs. There were no temper tantrums, just facts from history or valid sources. Point - Counter point

Today, people get all lathered up for almost anything... If character assassinations, rumors or lies were left out of politics, than there would be less anger and more discussions.

In California, you either submit or be banished forever - unless you have enough money to say (fill in the word)
