Howdy, All,
I just had to make a quick report about progress for our September gathering here in Loveland, CO.

Sharon and I just returned from a marvelous day with the Rocky Mountain 356 Registry Club. We had a museum tour and lunch. Good people. The Tour was of the TEBO CAR MUSEUM in Longmont (18 miles south of here) and the first time I had ever been through it completely. It has over 300 cars ranging from old Fords to Duesenburgs, Rolls Royces, Porsches, Jaguars, etc, etc. Plus many od cars you never heard of. They only open once a month year around and do it only for groups. Steve Tebo, the owner, has set aside SEPTEMBER 20 for the September opening so that the SOC can tour it in the morning (Saturday) of our gathering. This is great news! This is one car museum even the ladies will really go wild over.

Stay tuned for more announcements of features as I get them nailed down.

Happy Trails,
Dusty and the smiling Miss Sharon

Cal,
Congratulations on the daughter's wedding. Just think ... soon the "Bank of Dad" can close her account and find more $$$ to spend on the Speedster!

OK, Everyone, with the East Coasters starting to work up excitement for Carlisle and a "murmer" of excitement beginning about Paso Robles don't forget the National Speedster Gathering in Colorado this September! The La Quinta Inn (our host hotel) is almost built and will open in early February so we will have almost NEW rooms in September. They have given us a rate of $89 per night and use of a hospitality room. Ample parking with a great view of the Rocky Mountains. I have arranged a tour or the Tebo Collection (over 350 cars) and two driving tours so far. Still working on a small "show" in Estes Park with time for the ladies to shop. The Lovely Miss Sharon has come up with a great idea for a surprise or two that will add to the fun. Put this one on your calendar ... September is one of the best driving times of the year in this part of Colorado.

On the meantime, we want to be the first on this forum to wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and the best SPEEDY New Year!

Dusty and Sharon
Jim,
Check your Mapquest.com for times and distances. I think it would take about 9 or 10 hours. I worked at a livery stable up there in the early 1960's and the last time I was there in 1987 a bunch of we crazies rode our cycles up there in record time. I don't recommend driving that fast today. We were stopped by a friendly hiway patrolman who said (mind you, we were all pushing 40 something years old) "Boys, if you continue to drive 45 to 6o miles an hour over the speed limit I just might have to give you a citation. Please slow down" and he let us go!! Whoo wheeee, a free "Get out of Jail" card. I can't see that happening today.

Happy Trails,
Lucky Dusty (and the Lovely Miss Sharon)
Dusty and the ever supporting and obviously much loved Miss Sharon,
We took the next step in making the National Gathering in Colorado this September. Now have a vehicle with which to tow the speedster so the elements won't dampen our spirits on the trip up - a requirement for Carol's, my beautiful and much loved better half, willingness to sacrifice her birthday celebration at home. Should have no problem finding a suitable trailer to borrow, rent or buy over the next few months. Next step, getting dates confirmed, solidifying the itinerary and securing reservations! Woooohooooo! Best regards, Cal
Jennifer, I made a custom towbar for my Spyder, and flat-towed it to Carlisle two years in a row. It's only 235 miles, but it seems to pull along nice back there. 60-65 mph behind my Suby Legacy, no problem. Of course, I have a bunch of rock chips so I am not real careful about the paint. I did get about 22 mpg which does have a bearing these days when towing.......
Dusty and Miss Sharon,
Been out of touch for a while (business trips), but finally organized the last piece of the puzzle for the trip, the car trailer - so everything is in place to join up in Colorado for the National Gathering.....WITH the speedy AND Carol.
Best regards,
Cal

Jim - my wine-garglin' / Harley-tour-Crok-wearin' / vintage-drivin' / always-smilin' / good-times-havin' / virus-catchin' West Coast buddy,

Judging by the caption on the photo you posted, you must make a habit of getting kicked out of tours ...

I like you more every day!

Cheers!
