I have a friend in Los Angeles who is interested in the possible purchase of a 914-6 Porsche in Sacramento. Can anyone provide the name of someone who can provide a proper pre-purchase inspection on this car. Rust, of course, is the big bugaboo, but a complete and thorough inspection by someone familiar with the 914-6 with 2.7 liter engine would be mandatory. I tried to contact Paul Harford (from the Vallejo area) but can't find him on the SOC site. Paul is very knowledgable and might be able to help, so if anyone can help me contact Paul, I will call him.

Thanks,

Barry

Barry,

If this doesn't pan out for a PPI, run it past the Pelican BBS guys for an opinion. Post it in the 911 section not the 914 but make sure you put 914-6 in the title. There's about 1,000 911 guys who post to every 1 914 guy...

The engine on a 914-6 is a 2.0 unless someone has done something naughty and wicked. The 916 had a 2.7 but the car being looked at is not a 916 (guaranteed). So that means it's is a 74-77 2.7 liter engine and that one can definately have issues. That said, if it's good, then it's good.

Pelican dudes should be able to recommend a good person for a PPI for our buddy's perspective car. If the car were a little further south, say around Paso Robles, there's a great fellow down there "Guy's Porsche." He may also have a knowledgeable buddy in sacramento. That guys is also "replica spyder friendly".
